Basically, being a hunter is when society considers you so exceptionally gifted, you have a nearly free license to do or pursue whatever you want, in hopes to progress humanity in some way.
@Excelsior With the Killua thing, using how Morel recommended not going after illumi and hisoka as an example, I would say it's because they are wary. Pissing off the Zoldyck Family is something just the zodiacs and the spider can realistically survived, as of right now at least.
@Excelsior How many powerful hunters got sent to deal with the chimera ants? With how powerful the zoldycks are even a force like that would have difficulties. Not to mention how much we don't know. It could be possible that they have someone who could fight Netero.
Becoming a hunter grants an individual many benefits such as access to many forms of transportation, resources, legal immunity. But did you know becoming a hunter also gives one the benefit to press the subscribe button for the NewWorldReview and thus obtain regular content delivered straight to their feed? It's no wonder why so many people long to become one
Hisoka is a transmuter. Transmuters can change their aura into different substances. Just like you know. Hisoka can change his aura into rubber and gum. Killua can change his aura into electricity.
And if you're talking about hisokas alliance then there is no such. He just looks for worthy opponents to fight to the death. Has no affiliation to any other group. His only motive is to find strong opponents and fight. That's what makes him one of the most dangerous and greatest character in hxh.
@@ofthecaribbean Fun-Fact for those that want Combat-Nen to become Bodyguards: The cost to hire an unarmed driver is around 350 per day if you provide the car. You can hire an armed driver for around 500 per day. Usually, unarmed security agents are ex-military, police or FBI agents. An armed security guard can cost 500 a day. You will easily need around 750 a day to hire an armed security agent and price can go up to 1000 a day for international jobs. You also pay for their drinks though. How much does a bodyguard cost to protect you full time? Well, you could be paying around 1000 to 1500 a day for full-time security personnel. Typically, a top-level security group comprises of around 10 members in a team and you could be paying around 100-150 per person an hour. Own Mercenary is around 1,200 per day. Nen of course should mean youre ‚armed’ or even more, so take this as the ‚lowest estimate’.
Didn’t the requirements of the election for the next hunter chairman require that 95% of the hunter association vote? This would make a maximum of about 630 hunters.
The meaning for hunters stay the same, but the qualifications to be a hunter change with each chairman, eg when netero died, the new chairman(Cheadle) changed the hunter exam to weed out the good from bad for the expedition, but this seemingly has no effect on hunters who've already passed past exams with different qualifications
Funnily enough, only yesterday, I went through the wiki to study this very topic. However, I was unable to answer my question, which is: Why exactly do hunters exist? Why is it that in this world that Togashi has created, there ended up being a necessity for hunters? I saw someone bring it up as a gripe with the show (they had an issue with it being the main "plot" of hunterxhunter, yet it was not explained) and as much as I see a lot of bad crticism of the show, I didn't have anything to say against this. I don't think it's an issue, neccessarily, but...I wonder if there's any way to know? The closest I could get to an answer of my own was the dark continent itself. Netero was the 12th chairman of the association, implying, obviously, that there were 11 before him. I imagine that whoever the first chairman was managed to discover the dark continent, and created, possibly, both the hunter association and the V5. And then following on from this, the various sneaky expeditions to the dark continent have all been the reason that the association was created to begin with. Perhaps you might explain this in your video about the association, or you may not explain it at all, but I still think it's worth discussing.
Hunters exist bcs people always need something, and these people specialise in different things they hunt, imagine if you are some guy and you need a rare item and you can't get it yourself,so you pay a hunter who can get it for you. Ofc bcs they get a lot of benefits as hunters, some people go to become hunters just bcs of those benefits and they don't do the job of a hunter like hisoka
There are so many reasons something like this would exist. Wing mentioned part of the reasons were to somewhat limit who comes into contact with and learns nen, granted it's not perfect. But a force to mobilize in the case of something like the chimera ant invasion, or giving great people the ability to more easily follow their dreams so they can innovate and improve certain fields, like medical or food. Here's the thing, the hunter association is old. It would've likely been created for a few solid reasons, but what a "hunter" is likely would've changed down the line. At it's creation we probably wouldn't have seen hunters like Netero or Hisoka. Ultimately, there doesn't have to be a reason like the dark continent to want to create this though. Putting power in the hands of amazing people is not a bad idea. Sure there are always going to be some hisokas out there, but he's amazing in his own rite as well.
Eh Hisoka is a manipulative charismatic psychopath. He can play sane long enough for a lil exam if it lets him fight someone strong. He’ll just have to hide his schwing from the rest of the class.
I know this is irrelevant to the video but has Liam ever talked about the poor mans rose bombs hidden somewhere for anybody to takeover? I think if the manga was to reach the gyro arc we’ll see him trying to take over these warheads. I think it’s episode 127 or 128 where they talk about it
You said something interesting about being given the tools to undermine society. One of the primary functions of the Hunter association, as noted by rule number one, is to illicit the primal forces in each and every Hunter candidate. It promotes a mode of operation based on the oldest rules in the book. (Dog eat dog, life eats life, only the strong survive.) Therefore society as a whole experiences this effect in multiple different ways. From simple rumors and myths to entire cultures, civilizations and economies stemming and being brought up potentially through the actions of a single being. It’s only natural that those who have the most influence in this world are those with a strong mind and will. At least, stronger than their opposition. But the one thing they all have in common is their conviction. This is what the association teaches because this is what makes them the strongest. (Or smartest, or most thorough and steadfast.) The beauty is that it’s all in accordance with the law of nature. That primal spirit; the embodiment of life itself. With that doctrine at the forefront, it’s basically impossible to go wrong. Because there will always be a correction of influence where it is needed. For example. Through Netero’s defeat at the hands of Meruem, he loses influence on the HxA and Meruem gained influence. (Perhaps inadvertently but nevertheless.) Wasn’t it Meruem who pointed out, with the help of Komugi, that people are special in their own way and should be given a chance to shine even if they’re not physically the strongest? And wasn’t it decreed by the current head to make the hunter exams more inclusive to a wider range of ability? Funny how that works out. This is all notwithstanding the curses of the dark continent. I’m sure you could find some way to level it all out but I guess that’s just a metaphor for the unknown. Some things are divine or not meant for us to understand. There will always be the chaotic factor. And also, messing with the DC is a quick way for a self correction to happen instantly. That’s nature saying, being so grandiose and cocky as to think you can control the uncontrollable is a path towards destruction. It’s going to change their influence (or if by some miracle they’re able to harness the powers it will set it in stone.) Anyway hope you found something meaningful here. In summary, the HxA promotes influence on society as a whole. Quite secretively also I might add.

Almost like people who would go to monstrous lengths to pursue their goals. Its like a system to keep an eye on the sociopaths. Batman and some of his colleagues would fall under Hunter spectrum, but so would almost all of his villains too
Temp Hunters ARE professionally licensed, having passed the Hunter exam and enjoying the same status as any other Hunter. It's just that many Hunters look down on them because they make a relatively "safe" career out of taking jobs from the Association rather than pursuing their own goals.
Problem hunter sounds a bit like Sherlock Holmes being a consulting detective. I imagine it deals with investigation, logistics, and even some negotiation making him one of the least physical hunters although some problems are best dealt with by punching.
We don’t know what type of hunter Hisoka is, but I would guess he is a subtype of blacklist I hunter would call “Strength Hunter.” He lives to hunt strong people, and I think this would officially fall under “blacklist hunter” because the criminal underworld seems to have an unusually large amount of strong people; also his close proximity to criminals means he would be very talented in hunting them down. Secretly tracking and killing most likely nen users also might be seen as very valuable to the hunter association by helping hide the existence of nen from the public.
I imagine “problem hunter” is something along the lines of whatever Goldblum was doing on Jurassic park, surveying dangerous things and finding problems and providing limited advice/aid in preventing them from happening.
My guess is that Isaac Netero was a Hunter Hunter, after all, he was the first chairman of the association, it wouldn't be crazy to think his main occupation other than supervisioning the association would be finding individuals with great potential to join in.
you should do vidoes on zanpakto for bleach since its about to come out with its last arc. you explain things very well and would love to see your reviews on them one day
I personally find the diplomatic immunity thing interesting. I doubt most countries would be willing to allow murder just because someone is motivated. Considering the power level that hunters are in this world, I see it more as a way to save resources not trying to arrest someone so dangerous they'd probably take down entire squadrons
Do hunters need a job if their goals don’t give them money? I remember that at the end of the exam arc, the guy with a bean for a head mentions that with a license they can have a decent life or something like that, but I’m not sure.
Hunters don't get a salary but instead they get hired or do a quest by a client and are given money plus if your a hunter you can get a larger amount of loan in any bank with 0 percent interest so yeah being a hunter is really beneficial but you have to survive the test first
I know it’s not an official title used but I always classified people like Netero and Hisoka as Combat Hunters since the only thing they seem to seek out is the best most challenging fights.
You can also buy a licence on the official hunter association site if you master the nen without passing the hunter exam, Sharnalk ( he is technically a hunter ) said it to Uvo in Yorknew arc
I think the only prerequisite is passing the exam and using nen. You do that and then you do anything you want but you will have all benefits that comes with being a hunter. In this regards both Hisoka and Illumi were hunters before they got excluded by genociding the entirety of Teradain group... But then Illumi basically got high fived on the boat by Zodiacs, it is quite confusing.

I think everyone who's using their power to get to a certain goal is a Hunter even people who don't have a license or can't even use nen like Battera cause he uses his power to get a certain card to help his beloved and the Hunter Association's purpose is giving you the power to hunt. I wouldn't call a passive person a Hunter even if they have a license and even passed the secret exam. "If you have power, use it!" -Aleczandxr in his video "Meruem: The Perfect Leader"
I’ve been wondering this for the past few weeks, but every time I did I’d come up with an answer and then forgot the answer a few days later. The real answer is a bit more detailed than mine was though.
all of that said at least for netero and hisoka there could be a title theorized for them : Conflict Hunter or Opponent Hunter as both seem to have dedicated their life to pursuing or cultivating the next contender so to speak.
Without watching the video I'm guessing a Hunter is a high level or super human specialist(not like the nen category) who has a goal or dream that they achieves there dream through adventure
Hey does this guy have a video explaining different levels of hunters like rookie hunters to 3 stars and what it takes to get them if not I would like to see that
I always thought it was an exceptional mercenary. Another hard title to attain in real life is combat swimmers course where it can go 2yrs with no one passing and if you do it take another 1yr or so just to become operational.

Don't forget that part of the initial Hunter exam is to ring the bell of NewWorldReview so you can know when new anime content is uploaded. It's even a prerequisite for learning nen!
