I like how Blur won't call it angles because apparently fox is the only character in the game that does stuff using angles. Like no other character is allowed to use geometry
Blur probably calls it a curl because of the motion you make with the stick. The quarter circle could look like a curl. It's still a dumb term... but how many other terms are objectively dumb in Smash? (stares at "mangle")
Scott Coyoti, a mangle is different from a mew2king angle. Mew2king angle is when you snap directly do ledge or do a perfect angle to grab ledge but not go over. A mangle is when you dodge an attack with your angle. And a mangle can be a m2k angle when it dodges an attack and snaps to ledge, but a m2k angle cant be a mangle
I've seen a couple theories on why he calls it curl. My guess is the shape of the trail of the Up-B (specifically at the bottom). It's like a curved shape. Idk, I think it sounds fine to be honest. Not sure why people think it doesn't make sense.
If you input correctly when using Marth's up-B, you can get more horizontal/vertical distance which can help you to recover in situations you otherwise wouldn't be able to. This video is basically just commentators arguing over what the name of the technique. The guy in the last clip is Mew2King, a very famous Marth player who is the Jason in Jason Leap and supposedly, according to one of the commentators, this technique is named after him.
Curl is the perfect term for this move. Anyone hating on Blur is just hating on Blur case its a meme. Get a pubic hair and conform it to the outer gc controller analog stick. You will see that it will conform around the controller. Now cut the hair to any length and it will curl into a new angle for the up b.
I main roy (top roy on smashladder) so I think about curling a lot. Believe it or not it works pretty good for him. Useless info to like 99 percent of the scene but w/e
