A macro is a fast, efficient way to execute multiple actions at a time. Learn how they work and what they're good for in just a couple minutes :D Fractal Design Facebook: / fractaldesignna
Get a big f'ing mouse pad and you're good to go. Mines a cloth Rosewill 17" x 13"... I can't stress how great it is never having to move or adjust your mouse pad. Watch out for braided mouse cords though, since they can get caught on the edges, and cause drag. I faced that issue, and ended up putting a back scratcher behind it to keep the cord off the edges. =D Problem solved.
well ctrl+V can't have perfectly timed keypresses. basically with a macro, it's like programing a robot to hit your keyboard keys/mouse buttons with perfect repeatable timing
Well... You can always just bind the fire button to the scroll wheel... no need for macros to abuse semi auto weapons. The game devs should make sure there is a certain delay or maximum rate of fire on semi automatic weapons...
More so when used as recoil reduction, regardless of single shot, semi or full auto. IMO if you are using a piece of software or hardware to generate human inputs in a game you are cheating i.e. binding multiple key presses to one key.
who are the ones that are bitching about the advertisement at the end of his videos, just don't watch them. But this was a creative advertisement that I actually watched all the way through
"I've done worse for 20 bucks." Linus, should we been concerned? Love how Linus tried to stay professional and maintained his composure while his face was covered in cream and wearing a pie plate for a hat
I have the logitech g510 keyboard with 18 macro keys and the logitech g700 gaming mouse with 11 macro keys. (they say 13, but the left and right mouse button can not be programmed. only swapped). I never use the keyboard macro's for gaming because I only play shooters, but they are very usefull for ctrl-c, ctrl-v, ctrl-a, etc. The buttons on the mouse are very usefull. I use the 4 buttons on the side for my weapons (1, 2, 3 and 4), the 2 of the 3 buttons on top for sound ajustments and the 3rd to toggle dpi. I use the scroll-right to throw a grenade and scroll-left to turn the lazer/flashlight on or off. They say it is a MMO mouse, but it is very usefull for everyday life and other games as well.
Macro = MMO player's paradise...moooaaaaaarrrr buuutttttoooooonssss or do what i do and macro the most frequently used QTE buttons as space or whatever button you use for "activate" or "use" actions in gaming and by macroing them you effectively eliminate annoying QTE like press this button faaast repeatedlyyyy bullshit
As someone who isn't the most tech-savvy I was hoping to get an answer to this one question I've had for a while. Since Macros make multi-step processes one-step, can I use these with ALT commands? I'm trying to learn French and I hate having to hit Alt 0233 to get the accent aigu (é). Its really annoying and makes me lose concentration to the rest of a phrase I have to type. Also, if I got a programmable macropad, is there a way a assign a sort of shift button so that I wouldn't need two keys for the lowercase é and the É? Hitting a kind of shift button to capitalize an accent key would be a great help.
I still have my first gen G15 from back when it launched. Best membrane keyboard and the only one anyone should ever use. 60$ for something that holds for years is something you don't see very often on the keyboard market, especially membrane.
I have another option i discovred and use now.. I use auto Autohot Key with Pullover's Macro Creator to record my input commands of keyboard, mouse, or specific function, export them as executable code, assign them to a button or a sequence of buttons, and even customize them for delay, and specific functionality. It's very easy to use actually but there are a few things to note when creating your commands such as consistency control and computer delay for certain situations. However a keyboard with a separate button to do this is awesome especially for work applications like video editing, photo editing, and word/data processing.
Could you also give us a few links to macro programs that you would recommend (free and paid)? Such as macros that are general and can be used to automate click and pointing anywhere on the screen.
Really good video, although I feel like you should have mentioned AutoHotkey. Granted it's more difficult, but great for people who don't have a gaming peripheral and don't want to shell out a pretty penny.
I've found that may gaming mouse and keyboard are fantastic for my design work. I'm a Visual Communications major and I work in all sorts of multimedia. For example, being able to lower the dpi of my mouse when doing some very sensitive work in InDesign has been immensely helpful. Rebinding keys from frequent keyboard shortcuts has also be advantageous. I may even look into some extra hardware for increased macro support...
I think it would be very helpful (at least for me) if you could explain the difference between multi rail and single rail on a psu and when to use multi or single rail :)
Logitech keyboards and Cyborg mice does this very well, they let you record how fast you want the commands to execute, works nice for me... sad i have no fucking use for macros.
I personally use macros when gaming for doing something like "a then leftclick" directly from the mouse. And a few days ago i started building my own macrokeyboard like taran did with luamacros and ahk to make my premiere workflow faster ;)
Still confused. I would like more examples of this in games. I’m not a huge Moab player so that is probably why I don’t know much about macro keys but I was wondering what would be some examples of macros even in first person shooters.
Not only for games... Many useful strings of commands can be used for word processing, video editing, music production, coding, web browsing... Basically anything that you ever do on your computer you can speed up with macros. And it's usually not limited to 18 (or however many there are) because there are several banks that switch the 18 for a different set of 18
can you please make a as fast as possible on mechanical keyswitches, im looking to buy a mechanical keyboard (since lots of people reccommend them to me) but whats the different in switches?
pls reply does this count as macro my mouse has 3 modes to change the sensitivity for the mouse and the one i hvae is called a cm storm keyboard and mouse
I suggested it in another video, but I for one would like to see a video on how best to set up a new monitor for optimum performance. p.s. I want to know what worse things you've done for $20!
Hi Linus I have a keayboard with macros but I don’t know how to set them up no matter what I do my keyboard is called the Arokh K2 and I can’t find any software for it is there any third party software for it
sitting here in 2018 with a razor huntsman. I wanted to know 100% what macros were before going in and making some for starcraft 2 and starcraft remastered. Yeah thats right suck it 2014 people you dont have starcraft remastered- this post was made by 2018 gang
fractal i LOVE them i have there case but this comertial is best i have ever seen i didnt scip this one by turning of video =D as on most of the others ;)
Thanks, I had a G15 from back when they first released, lasted about 6 years. I used the game keys for my wow setup and later SWTOR. After is died I used the display for another 2 months until the cable got ripped. Round the time it died I had to settle for a G11 because the G15 had been discontinued for the G5xx series and I felt, the originals were better. I now use a Corsair Raptor K50 and after a bit of a learning curve, I'm not going back. I even have from Vent and game stuff on my Corsair Vengeance M95 (and the white needs more cleaning.. oh gods does it need cleaning)
