What is a SHOT/ SCENE/ SEQUENCE ? 

I'm taking a film course and you explained this so much better than the professor LOL

got into this writing degree a bit late than i was supposed to and we already have exams and i have to submit 5 consecutives shots of a movie to my teacher, was a bit confused at first thank you for the clear instructions !

So I have a question. I have a short movie I am going to be shooting in my backyard and the back alley behind my yard. The movie will start in the back alley and move into my back yard consisting of a bunch of different short shots. So If i am making a storyboard or shot list, is the whole sequence 1 scene then since it is all in the confines, loosely, of the backyard and alley or is the shots in the back alley making up 3 different shots 1 scene and the rest in my back yard scene 2? Hope this makes sense.
