can anyone help me out with the difference between a public sector tender and a company tender?

UK public sector tenders are governed by a law called The Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (check out our video on it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c2rxS05oJTo.html) which basically means public bodies, like councils, NHS trusts, schools etc have to follow the basic principles of open, fair and transparent competition (i.e. not favouring one supplier over another and making it clear within the tender document how they intend to score the tender submissions). Company tenders aren't governed by these rules and so companies have the flexibility to run their tenders how they see fit. More often than not, company tenders will invite specific participants to tender so it will be harder for you to find open adverts for company tenders. However they don't want to pay over the odds for a product or service, and still want assurances that the winning supplier will be able to deliver. So these tenders will probably operate in much the same way (with a set of criteria that will be scored, including a quote, and require bidders to demonstrate an ability to deliver).

Hi that video is great helped alot, whats a “Mini tender” ?

Hi, thanks for the question. A mini competition (sometimes called a mini tender) is usually conducted when a buyer (like a council) uses a pre-existing framework. They find a framework that offers the goods or services they want, and then only invite the suppliers who have already been awarded a place on the framework. If you're not on the framework then you won't be invited to compete. The advantage is they can speed up the tendering process and limit the number of tender responses they receive and have to score. This process usually is quicker than a full tender and asks fewer questions of a supplier. Think if it like asking for a quote, with a few extra questions thrown in, rather than a full detailed tender process.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BID AND TENDER
@Frameworker
@Frameworker 5 лет назад
A "tender" is the competition for a contract, your responses can either be called a bid or a tender response. It contains your answers to quality questions and your pricing, along with any other required documentation and evidence of your capabilities
