Thats whats happening on my 1990 A4LD trans. Transmission fluid is slowly leaking out the bottom 6 oclock Position of the bell housing that shrouds The torque convertor pump and leaking front seal of the pump! Thanks for your video so i could understand!
This happened to me, and mine spewed all the fluid out and started slipping. Until it wouldnt move forward anymore (because no fluid left) and it got hot enough the fluid underneath caught fire. Whats the likelihood I need a reman transmission? Thats what the mechanic is trying to convince me to do and I told him I want to try a pump seal first and he said the labor charge is $850 for the seal I could do it myself but i broke down 2 hours from home so im willing to pay the price to get it done
Wow, you probably did ruin the transmission. I mean you could take a chance with just replacing the seal but its like a 40/60 chance it will be good. The 60% is it will not.
@@motorcarnut I learned by a photo I took that the cause of the fire was the transmission fluid splashing onto the exhaust If that's the case does that help my odds
