oxidized wine if done right makes a nice different style of wine. Madeira which is a fortified/port type wine is nice.

Hello. Are the faults less likely in a sparkling wine like champagne due to opening the bottle for the second fermentation and the significant cork?

There are so many ways to prevent the tartar build-up. Cold stabilizing and filtering are the most common methods I know of. But if you want more information, I recommend reading this: www.extension.iastate.edu/wine/methods-tartrate-stabilization-wine
