A Zither Orchestra is much like the voices in a Symphony Orchestra. In a Symphony Orchestra you have a Violin, Viola, Cello, and String Bass. In a Zither Orchestra you have the Quint Zither, Descant Zither, Alt Zither, and Bass Zither. The Descant Zither is the main voice of the orchestra which often plays the melody and harmony. The Quint Zither is tuned a fifth higher than the descant zither. The Alt Zither is tuned a fourth lower than the descant zither. And, the Bass zither is tuned an octave lower than the descant zither. Like the stringed instruments in a Symphony Orchestra, each voice in a Zither Orchestra lends its own unique sound to a piece of music.
