On today's adventure I get upgraded to First Class on Amtrak Acela on my trip from Washington DC to New York City. (First Class service is the same for Boston to NYC.)
We start off with some things to do at Union Station before your train trip, get access to the Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge and hop on the 150 mile per hour electric train.
First class includes a lot of upgrades over the regular Acela, but is it worth the super high price tag? You get access to the Lounge, Priority Boarding, and Complimentary Meals and Drinks.
Plus better seats, a quieter and more spacious train car and 2 train attendants to assist and serve.
Hop aboard with me and I'll show you my first class experience on the Amtrak Acela.

Full transparency even so, I booked my “Train ride” from Paris to London and paid nowhere near 300. They served lunch plus, snacks ,and complimentary champagne. Unfortunately,I was not able to enjoy bc I had the worst toothache of my life. Thank you for the video, I believe in America were should invest in our infrastructure particularly in the northeast but still have a lot of categorizes to improve on.

The only way that it’s worth it is if you buy a regular Acela ticket and then you use a coupon. I bought an Acela ticket for $181 and use my free upgrade. If I didn’t use the upgrade, it was gonna be $475. You can buy upgrades with points or if you spend enough, they give you free upgrades as well. So I’ve still got a few more left.

I wonder how the conductors determine how fast the train can go on certain portions of the trip?

I think it’s all preplanned for perfect weather and then they slow down for heat and other weather things. there’s an exact starting point and ending point to where it goes up to 150 miles an hour. It only goes that one segment.

Very interesting. I've never splurged for first class on any travel as I don't think it's ever worth it. I don't drink alcohol so even that isn't a selling point! I'm travelling across Canada (4 nights/ 110+ hours) on the train in November in 'Sleeper Class' which includes meals.

Regular Train not worth it (I got the free upgrade) but Sleeper car is technically first class and is totally worth it. You will love it. I only did US Sleeper but I heard Canada is the best.

I'm going to nyc with amtrak in november for $35 instead of $300+ 😂. But on the other hand, I'm going to fulfill my dream of going to a michelin starred restaurant so, i can go slower to have more money.

That’s a better decision. Every time I book a trip it’s last-minute because of my job, so I never get those good rates like $35. And I’ve never eaten that Michelin star restaurant. I should probably try to do that at some point lol
