I love that she did that for you! Thanks for the reminder to deprogram my teacher brain and ask for more!

Hey Sam! Great video as always. I was wondering if you're aware of any success stories regarding remote jobs from applicants outside of the US. I'm currently in my first job search for ID/Training roles and pretty much binge watching both yours and Devlin Peck's content. Thanks in advance ;)

Hey! Thanks so much for watching! And yes I've worked with many IDs that weren't based in the US. There are a lot of companies that have offices in multiple locations (e.g. US, Singapore, Croatia), so it's definitely possible to be an ID outside of the US. I'd suggest using LinkedIn to search up ID jobs in your area - hope that helps!

I noticed that higher ed has the lowest starting salaries for IDs! I have a friend who transitioned from the classroom to a higher ed ID position! I think it’s a great starting point! But he plans to land a more corporate ID role in the future.

I agree - it's definitely a great starting point! Gaining experience is definitely a super important thing when you're making the transition!

Could you make a video about benefits? Health insurance is getting soooo expensive for US companies right now. Do you know anything about benefits by different industry? I suppose you could talk about tech benefits? I know about benefits in healthcare as I used to work in healthcare. I also read that on average, companies that employ more women, have higher premiums for their employees. In healthcare, as they usually have a higher percentage of women workers (mostly nurses) employees tend to have higher premium payments as a result. This is just from my personal experience working for a hospital system. They also had a tiered system for employees where those who made more also had to pay higher premiums, so even if you got a raise, you never really got that extra income.

Hi! Great question - unfortunately I am not qualified to speak on benefits at all! I still have to ping my HR team all the time to ask a million questions 🤦‍♀️ wish it wasn't so confusing!! As for other benefits, it really depends on the company. Some offer great other benefits like 401k matches and great maternity/paternity leave, but it really just varies company to company!
