As a speech pathologist of 26+years I was delighted to see this doctors recommendation for speech therapy when someone is experiencing complications of aphasia. The medical marvel of neuroplasicity has humbled me personally and professionally while having the honor of helping many that experience aphasia. My mother struggled with this after a TBI and my father in law still struggles with it after a major stroke. Both have made incredible progress but aphasia is a totally different beast from dementia. Nothing changed cognitively in either of them...but it's like their ability to communicate is blurred and confused, both in speech and movement.

In the US it is difficult to get diagnosis for such conditions because they are invisible and require observation. Also there is stigmatization for getting a diagnosis as medical practitioners frame their perspective on that they believe that person just wants to get a disability check.

These interviewers make light of it like it’s perhaps just temporary memory failure. It’s not. It destroys your confidence for social interaction. Sometimes you can’t read, speak, spell or understand what someone is saying, all at different times, and it can progress from a couple times a day, to numerous times every hour of every day, and it appears to destroy your memory capacity, as well as induce anxiety attacks, and that’s not even a particularly bad case of it I think.

I keep forgetting words while talking especially in my native and 2nd language , i do speak Arabic french and English I think that this is the main reason i forget words and it has been kinda annoying lately people lose interest talking to me . The second cause i forget words is that i don't improve my communication skills I'm most of the time calm silent and i only speak when needed . The 3rd cause , i feel like my brain is so busy thinking about a lots of things simultaneously I don't think that my anxiety is one of the causes because this happens to me even with my parents

Me and my friend Maria’s school bus driver Tim has aphasia. We had to take control of the bus when he got air lifted. My friend Caroline watched us. When we got to the school. Me and Maria. Ran to the central office and we said our bus driver is sick call the ambulance. Someone in central office called 911. It took 30 minutes for the ambulance to get there. When the ambulance came it was paramedic Bart and paramedic Joseph. Bart and Joseph got the stretcher and got him off the bus. They loaded him into the ambulance. When they got to the hospital I was born in. He had to be air lifted. They flew him over to UAB. His bus was still there. I couldn’t ride his bus until January. Mike had to do his job. On Halloween we wished he were here. On thanksgiving we wished he were here. On Christmas we wished he were here. On New Year’s Day he returned home and was well. On January 5th we were back riding his bus to school again. He fully recovered from his stroke.

Great actor will be missed in movies. Aphasia is a symptom of something else like was mentioned. Stroke, bleeding, mass, injury. Why are they only giving symptom and not elucidating cause? Did he just have an illness. Did he just get a new safe and effective therapeutic. Seems like not all information being presented for some reason. It’s like saying someone has headache and not mentioning large brain tumor responsible. In short what is his diagnosis?
