Dr. Dani Tolman, PT describes what Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo is at great length and in easy to understand terms. Find out what the heck these "ear crystals" are, how they can make you dizzy, and what can be done to get rid of your positional dizziness/vertigo.

Thank you for explaining this is such depth and so clearly. This helps me to show other's what I'm experiencing, not just a small bout of "motion sickness". Your Epley maneuver video also gave me the solution to dealing with this - although it's quite a traumatic thing to do - it's very helpful. The secret to success with the maneuver is to do it slowly and thoroughly - be patient. Sometimes I can feel the crystals fall into place eventually. Along with plenty of rest, clean eating and TCM and homeopathic remedies, this speeds up the healing. Thank you again for your expertise and clarity. After many bouts of this you brought incredible relief.

Thank you for this! My girlfriend suddenly had much more frequent vertigo episodes these past few days (she'd have it maybe once every few months if that) so we've been trying to research what was happening or get a better understanding of it before reaching out to a specialist if it kept getting worse. We came across your Epley's Maneuver video and it seemed to have helped her! You did a great job explaining the technique so that we were able to perform it relatively well on the first try. We were amazed at the results and had lots of questions about what was happening. We read all about the "crystals moving around", but still wanted to learn more. Watching this video helped answer a lot of our questions and helped us to have a better understanding on what be aware of in the future. We appreciate your passion to help others with what you and your team do on this channel.

Thank you; very useful additional information. I have it in both ears, with both vertical and horizontal eye movements, and currently seeing my physio. I absolutely hate it! That feeling of being ‘discombobulated’ really gets to me. Sadly, I also have migraines which doesn’t help. I tried to do it myself but just couldn’t. As they are getting more frequent, I don’t want to risk it. Also ageing is not on my side. So, prefer to be seen by a clinician

Fabulous explanation, I’ve had BPPV for 40 years and once diagnosed, I had the Epley manoeuvre at my local hospital and it helped so much. I learned how to do it and have been able to treat myself at home when it recurs. Thank you so much for sharing this🇬🇧

Thank u so much for this video. A family member has suffered for years with what seems to be this condition. Now we know what specialist to look for to diagnose or rule our BPPV. This was so eye opening

Thanks for the clear explanation. I first experienced this last year and ended up going to the emergency room because it was quite terrifying. I couldn't move without experiencing the world spin round at what felt like extremely high speed. I was diagnosed in the ER and treated given the epley treatment, but the doctor's quick explanation was not particularly illuminating. I actually had to repeat the treatment at home later that day as the treatment in the hospital had not been fully successful, and that time it worked.

Very clear and informative, thank you! I have one question: is it possible to have constant dizziness for a whole year with episodes of more intense vertigo but the main issue is constant dizziness? After all this time being misdiagnosed a specialized doctor told me I might have bppv after doing tests in me, I would prefer to have this than not having a diagnosis but still on the internet I only found articles that refer to immediate vertigo that goes away. Thanks so much in advance for your feedback. 🙂

Once the procedure is done, is it possible for these crystals to come back and collect again (which means doing the procedure again at some point down the line) or not? or does it depend on the patient? And lastly, if there a way to slow down or mitigate crystals falling off or even collecting in the wrong tube? Video was great, thanks for all the information!

I just had a PT do the maneuver on me today and my eyes did just what you showed. Taking it easy the rest of the day but still feeling a bit of nausea a few hours after the treatment is that normal? I hope I'm fixed and don't have to go back and have that done again, it felt like being on a spinning ride at the fair. I had been sleeping flat on my back without a pillow due to a back problem so I think that is what caused the crystals to go haywire. I really hope I never have to go through that spinning again, I'm 59 so stuff just starts going to pot. I really liked your video on this.❤

WHY OR WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OR FACTORS OF VERTIGO

I was seeing if anyone can relate to this. My doctor mentioned I might have BPPV but, some things don't really fit. The main one is having the vertigo / spinning. I have dealt with a lot of dizziness / nausea that started around 8 years old and got progressively worse. A lot of mental trauma / abuse I assume is where it started. (I have bad anxiety which is supposedly a cause for it to happen as well) It reminds me feeling car sick / motion sickness. laying back in a chair can make that dizziness bad really quick. (I take motion sickness pills every day to help) My doctor tried the Epley maneuver, which didn't help. So, does anyone think it's possible to have BPPV without the vertigo? These are my main symptoms: That Lightheadedness, feeling off balance, feeling faint, Dizziness and motion sickness and Tinnitus. (No symptoms of fullness in my ears). When I was real young, I did have the ear tubes (tympanostomy tubes) put in at that time because, I felt like I couldn't hear anything. Those were taken out and everything felt like it went back to normal. Maybe that was a possible reason it could have started it? I just don't know what else it could possibly be and, no clue how to get help for it. If anyone has really similar symptoms, please let me know.
