Thanks, Pavel. I'm always so excited when I look at my journey history, and I've reached my cap and kept going, the journeys say "£0.00". A miracle... Thanks for helping to explain this. I didn't know about the buses... I like your office, btw. :) Cheers, Michael.
First of all thx for this fantastic video I instantly understood what the whole caping thing is about. Just one question, if I travel bus and underground for example, do I get caped in total for the zones I traveled through with both or do I get caped for bus and other forms of public transportation separately?
Very useful Mr pavel. 2 years of getting the tube to work and I only discovered this after a year. U know I'm not a fan of London. The tube is ridiculously overpriced for the standard compared to other countries. I'm glad about the bus cap as to get to the tube from where I'm staying in London I have to get two buses!
@@CuriousPavel What's are you thoughts in the city mapper card ? I am moving to London next year hence the research And thank you again awesome everyone else made there videos so confusing you was straight to point no Bs keep up the good work
Appreciate your words, Anton! ♥️ Me, personally, I've been working on different projects in the last 1,5 years and never needed to travel Monday to Friday all the time. I currently use contactless for my travels. You are giving me an idea for a video though :)
Thank you for a well presented and clear video. My wife and I are going to visit London in a few weeks time, for the first time in over 20 years, so I thought i would check out how things work. No doubt the prices have changed now, but the video was still useful. Regards from Whitley Bay (UK)
Yes, unfortunately the prices change every year. They never go down of course 🤣 Let me know if you have any other questions. You can also message me on Instagram or Facebook. Btw, Whitley Bay looks stunning. Mind if I bother you and ask you to tell me a curious fact or two from this place? (:
@@CuriousPavel Don't really know any curious facts about Whitley Bay. It used to be a popular tourist destination, prior to the 70s but cheaper overseas holidays put an end to that .. the beach is nice, but the water is pretty cold. There are two famous buildings here .. The Spanish City, which used to be the home of a large funfair .. Sadly it fell into decline and after many years derelict, it was reopened a couple of years ago and now has several restarants and cafes inside. St. Mary's Lighhouse at the north end of Whitley Bay used to be a working lighhouse, but was sadly decommissioned in 1984. It is a bit run down now but visitors can climb the 137 steps to the top .. as I did a few days ago and filmed it too. Regards !
Hi Pavel! How are you? Thank you for your video, it is really helpful. I'm going to stay in London for 1 month so I'm trying to find the cheapest way to get around mainly in zones 1-2. I do have a question, what if I take the tube in peak hours, (not off peak), I imagine that I will be charged extra amount but that trip still account for caping that day? Thank you!
Hi Marina. Yes, that will still be capping. However, you would have a different cap if you travel only off peak times. So whenever you can, do that. It's more pleasant to travel during those times, too. More space 😃
Hey Pavel! I’m going to London in the next few weeks and will be travelling between zones 1 and 7 (I saw there are 9 zones). I can’t seem to find the daily cap for zones above 6. Do caps exist or we are simply to pay extra after reaching zone 6? Thanks!
Hi Francois:) The beauty about copping is that you don't need to worry about it. It will be applied automatically. And if you stay for a week and travel all 7 days, then a weekly cap can be applied which may save you some money. Just make sure you use only one card. Hope that helps:)
Very helpful Curious Pavel. A question please. If I arrive in Heathrow Airport and travel by tube to central London and then spend the rest of my day journeying in zones 1 & 2 what capping price will I be charged for that day? I will be using Oyster card.
Good questions, Fergus. The capping goes to the furthest zone you have been so in the case it will take you zone 1-6. If you want to get the 1-2 capping, you can use a different card in your case, contactless for example. But will definitely now be cheaper if you get a paper ticket. There is a whole playlist we made about the Travels in London. Might be helpful -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sMWcIl-bx1w.html Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and do let me know if you have any more questions:)
So i have 40 pounds ON OYSTER and i dont want to refill. Lets say I make 4 trips between 1 and 2 and 4 between 1-6 in one day. I assume it won't be capped yet since those are different zones, right? Thanks! So I'd be chared until i hit the limit for each of the zones?
@@CuriousPavel Perfect! So if I make 8 trips between 1-2 nad then at the end of the day travel out of the center, will I then be capped at that latter fare? just confirming it sees all of your trips at the end of the day
Someone answer this question if someone knows, if you haven’t yet reached the off-peak cap but then the peak times come from 4pm to 7pm and then peak caps are on, does your off-peak cap count remain in place or does it reset to £0.00
Hi ! When I put a cap on my oyster , is it a top up ( on the machine )!? My zone is 6 so 1-6 is £14.10 so Should I put 14.10 and that’s it!? Thank you !!!!
Hey Caroline:) I'm sorry, I am not sure which cap you are talking about. The cap of daily spent is applied automatically. It depends on how many travel zones you go through. Does that makes sense?
Cappings are applied automatically, even on oyster cards. If you top up £30, and your daily travel is up to 15, then that will be your cap . Make sense?:)
