Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is also known as chronic myelogenous leukemia. It's a type of cancer that starts in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow and invades the blood. About 15% of leukemias in adults are CML.

Why, why, why do posters run any kind of music in the background? It is distracting from what is being said and is insanely annoying. Teaching about leukemia deserves more respect.

I’ve had good results with imatinib pills. Some ‘minor’ side effects, but manageable.

Went to a hematologist yesterday and have no symptoms but my monocytes were insanely high this why I went to a hematologist. My WBC was fine but my basophils and esonophils were a little high. The doc mentioned leukemia possibly but the doc took more vials just to be sure what’s going on. I’m praying it’s not leukemia. I’m very worried.

Hello all! Sry for a long delayed update. I went to my doctors and said as far as the big c (cancer) I was fine. I haven’t gone in for my 6 month evaluation which has been awhile since. Just to make sure. The only things thay were a bit weird was something I would need to see a rheumatologist for and an allergist as well. I’m still hoping I’m overall ok but so far from thay first doctors appointment I’m fine. Since finding out the results from the first visit I’ve been nervous to go back.

@@rebeccaaldridge8114 do your numbers stay at the same number or do they get lower. My doctor wants to put me on some new TKI, bc he wants my numbers lower, and I’m confused bc my numbers aren’t getting higher and I feel well.

Well explained. Thanks. Wonder why my Mother and I both had it. She was jak2 negative and I am jak2 positive. Lost her about 3 weeks ago. Now I have to go the fight alone 😔

My brother was diagnosed with CML a little over 2 weeks ago. He’s now taking Sprycel and we’re hoping that he’s well and healthy all over again soon. 🥹
