Hello @jezrahiahibo2877! For deontology (as opposed to utilitarianism/consequentialism), yes, duty is superior to happiness: we ought to do our duty regardless of whether it will make us happy or not (ex. tell the truth/not lie even if I and/or others will not be happy about it).

Can you please explain what you mean by "perfect" and "imperfect" duties?

Unfortunately, deontology does not take into consideration the consequences of an action (ex. someone getting hurt/angry because of the truth) (this is what consequentialist theories, like utilitarianism, consider). Rather, a deontologist simply does what is right because it is one's duty to do so regardless of the possible outcomes.

isn't those theories consider bad things can be good too. So is their a thery saying evry thing bad is bad but god things must consider the outcome.@@languageandideas

@@PersiuskaneohhThe value that makes something Good or Bad doesn’t come from an end result but the in the way something happened. It’s a way of framing your perception in an attempt to understand how to make the best choices ie ethics. The opposite of deontology is consequentialism which hold’s basically that the ends justify the means. That the given result of something justifies what created it and what it was created from. Ask yourself, how can I do good? How can I make choices that are good? Where does the quality of good come from? These are the questions philosophy of ethics are attempting to answer with a logical explanations.
