What about female genital mutilation? Or cultures that go against universal human rights? In no way this is acceptable. For many customs and practices, there is no relatisvism that is acceptable
Sorry but the issue here is power and freedom, not happiness. Yes, we may be "happier" with foreign aid, but we are definitely not more free, much less in control of our affairs.

The idea of metalanguage was not proposed by Barthes, it was already used in philosophy of logic by Tarski, da Costa, Putnam, Black and others... rather it was reinterpreted by Barthes. Also, the criticism of self-contradiction criticism is a bad one, I suppose (as an analytic philosopher myself). The post-steucturalist, I imagine, would welcome the conclusion instead of be hurt by it as the logical positivist was hurt by the criticism against the verificationist principle. Anyway, nice video. I learned a lot.
Post structuralist always try to establish multiple meaning and rejects that there is a single meaning for a word, then how is it possible that post-structuralist accept many meaning to a single word, if that so Post structutalist are only the critics of single meaning and not the proposer for multiple meaning Am i right??
My favorite philosopher is Mill, So i am interested in Utilitarianism. Your example of Robin hudd is good to understand to difference between Christian Ethics and Utilitarianism.
Really?! Mill is an interesting philosopher! Which of his ideas do you find the most interesting? We're happy you liked our Robin Hood example. Thank you! 🙂
Yes, science only describes (or, more accurately, "explain" through its causes) the universe. Philosophy and religion, on the other hand though, try to explain it. And yes, though to be more accurate, humanism promotes scientism. Thank you for your insightful comments! 🙂

I'm interested in role of "priming" together with "schemas". As I see it, a knowledge once established and integrated is not an easy thing to get revised or broadened.
I agree, that integrated knowledge would become part of the person herself (how she sees the world, behaves, etc.). What specific schemas would you want to "prime"?
@@languageandideas I meant the psychological process of _priming_ . The lesson first learned, evaluated and later successfully applied, digs in unfathomable deep and is nearly impossible to delete or alter. Not even psychoanalytic work or therapy can really do something against patterns of thinking under the aegis ☔ of _priming_ . Mostly these patterns harshly get defended and/or grow to a practice of obsession. For example austerity. Being in need of a hyperclean apartment. The fear of lack for recognition . . . and so on and so on. _Priming_ in certain, maybe many cases tends towards psychopatholgy. Compulsive behaviour, violence and has myriads of facets. All these things and thinks we are unable to change so to say, even though knowing these are harmful if not even destructive to a frictionless societal involvement or integration. Thanks for asking.

More and more contemporary Zeitgeist is preferring punishment as a regulator. Reward is hard to find except u're a ruthless persona who finds its satisfaction in power dominance and the gathering of goods and "wealth". I'm not complaining, asserting only.

In order to tolerate it is inevitable that what is tolerated has to become an integral part of my structure of thoughts. I can only take refugee and seek shelter by ignoring customs and practices I cannot agree to. Shall we tolerate child marriage or oppression of female rights such as female circumcision ? Just to give some examples. No ! Best is to ignore and let them. Otherwise one has to face the accusations of moral fascism and end up in interminable discussions if not even physical violence.
During the recent pandemic, many councils of ethics were asked where to go. They didn't have a guideline at hand, or were too much a coward to take a clear stance. Morals and Ethics are some kind of frivolous hobby to politics and people. To politics which constantly is staring at the bookkeeping, tax rules and the selfish demands of their voters. Demands which are driven by dysfunctional paradigms such as _freedom, god, love, happiness_ and so on and so on. Ethics needs to be taught at the breakfast table to the kids by sufficient educated parents. Which is an utopian demand.
I guess the politicians forgot that ethics/morality is what keeps society from chaos (way before the laws they make), and thus should be considered very important and taught everywhere (like advertisements).
@@languageandideas maybe also people's awareness should get increased about the contradictory nature of many ethical and moral standards. There is no solution in pushing dysfunctional paradigms without showing the limits of these. This is what I call enlightenment. And not this boring and dangerous pro and contra positioning.
