I understand EtherNet/IP is part of CIP, and that the CIP protocol over CAN-bus is DeviceNet, while CIP protocol over Ethernet is EtherNet/IP.. However, if I wanted to implement a CIP device (either thru CAN-bus or thru Ethernet), what does the application side look like? In other words, is it common that one must implement both sides, or is there a standard (generic) Windows application that can talk to any CIP node?
