What is DoxyPEP? 

My Dr. Prescribed Prep and then when I became single with the passing of my partner of 29 yrs. My Dr. Then Prescribed Dox pep then as well. Plus gave me all the information on it's use and when to use it. So glad that I have a gay Dr. that as a gay man makes it so much easier to speak about sensitive topics.

I’m a reader of clinic posters so I knew about PEP the first time I went on PrEP, but I thought it was for HIV and didn’t know it was actually for bacterial infections like chlamydia, and I should have been taking both. This is the first time I am seeing the prefix Doxy

These episodes are very important. I really enjoy them. I've always been interested in talk show that discuss health in general. I'm more of a talk radio person, and i always used to tune into talk shows that discuss general health back in the 90s. This takes me back. Very interesting.

Look into the history of nonoxynol-9. It was taken off the market in the U.S. when it was determined that it COULD cause more infections from continuous use due to tiny tears in the skin, BUT I see that the rate of STD's skyrocketed when this happened. I believe this anti-viral, anti-fugal and anti-bacteria lubricate used occasionally will decrease STD infections. Thoughts Dr. Tyler??????????

As you stated, some doctors are unaware of these things and my doctor is one of them. Also, I don't want to take the "wrong" recommendation.

Hi doctor, I’m concerned as I typically avoid antibiotics as it seems to reset my gut microbiome. How’s this different from a typical course of antibiotics?

Unfortunately I’m allergic to doxycycline and if I take it I develop FDE which is worse than having an STD.

What a madness. At random giving antibiotics as post infection medication. The result will be resistant bacteria. In The Netherlands antibiotics are only prescribed when absolutely necessary. I am gay and use PreP, but using DoxyPeP sounds as a bad idea.

Should this be used after unprotected oral sex?

It's a drug; so I can't imagine someone taking it every day even if they have sex every day.

I don't believe it's because more people are getting tested, especially in the gay community which is smaller compared to the population.
