make 4 tracks into 2, then put them back on the four-track. That's it in a nutshell.

Back in the day, I stumbled upon a similar technique where I would bounce the 3 track through the auxiliary through an effects processor and into the forth track. That way I would avoid the muddiness of bouncing within the system. All the instruments would be more clean and clear sounding

I need you to talk to me like I'm a 5 year old! When you said "we need to set this to INPUT here." The Tape-Off-Mic/Line is all the "INPUT". There are other bouncing tutorials that don't show what all the track's switches need to be set to. I think that us imperative in order to successfully bounce say 1,2&3 to track 4. Killer song though dude I'm diggin' it!

You make that 505 kick. Never heard the SNARE sound so good.

Hey I have a question, could I use some kind of portable cassette player to bounce tape loops and make copies of songs on? If so do you have any affordable recommendations? I am new to recording on tape

Another great episode!, and cool track! Question, as you bounce your tracks to the reel to reel, are you compressing? I couldn't avoid to seeing that DBX 163x compressor processing something. Thanks! :)

Hi, I've question. Does the tape play back speed changes subtly each time I bounce it to daw? Cause I'm worrying about the alignment of instrument

I have that Tascam 4 track reel-to-reel upstairs covered in dust! I got it cheap 25+ years ago and used it to do a couple of tunes.. nothing ever fully completed but you know that can go. I do have a question though. If you're familar with how an Echoplex will let you do sound-on-sound where the record head will record right over the top of the tape as it loops back through (sort of the original looper function) I recall my Tascam 4-track reel-to-reel could do the same. Couple of questions... 1) am I remembering this correctly that the Tascam reel-to-reel 4-track can do that... and 2) something you quite likely won't know... but I have a new Tascam Model 12... can I do the same on that? In other words.. say record something on track 1... and then without changing my mic to another track or anything else.. just record over track 1 and create an 'on the fly' composite of the first take with the 2nd take all on the same Track 1? Good video by the way...

If I make a mistake when recording, do I have to record everything again or is there a function to record only the part that made the mistake?

There are so many things to explore, this is a nice one. Another great technique what I like to explore is what Warren Huart explains in the beginning of the video where he promotes the Rupert Neve Designs Master Bus Converter Dual-path A/D Converter & Limiter

Didn't you bounce the bass and octave bass part already within the Tascam?

I'm just not crazy about drum machines. Imagine how much more respectable that would sound with acoustic drums. It would sound like actual music.
