Hey just a little info. Kuro has not eaten any devil fruit nor has a devil fruit abilities. he was just using a normal psychical ability to move that fast 😅
Just to clarify, those snails that the characters use as a communication device are actual animals. They’re not machines. That’s why Garp also feeds one in the show. They’re interesting creatures, besides being phones for some reason, they also copy the appearance of their owners. Garp’s has a beard, Morgan’s has that metal chin thing etc etc. One of my favourite weird creatures in One Piece.
They don’t clarify in the live action version, but the butler does not have a devil fruit. Typically when someone has a devil fruit, it will be confirmed that they have one, like Luffy and buggy did.
@@popejaimieif you’ve seen when they get to cp9 kuro is using shave for the speed but doesn’t have control when he moves that fast because he hasn’t mastered it so swings wildly
@@popejaimie I don't know if this counts as a spoiler, but there are people in the One Piece universe who use abilities even without Devil Fruits. I don't know if the show will get to the point where this is explained, but there are things like Haki and Rokushiki Techniques. (Kuro use a Rokushiki technique called Soru. It's basically super speed) It's not a rule, but if the ability is too "simple", it's probably not the power of a fruit, because fruit abilities are usually much more specific and creative than a simple "super speed power"
I think its better just to think that there's a lot of martial arts in this world. So powers that are not caused by devil fruit are some kind of martial arts. Except those 3 things of course.
Trivia for One Piece newbies: Usopp’s name is a pun made up of the Japanese word “Uso” which means “lie” and the Greek name “Aesop” who was the storyteller behind Aesop’s Fables, one of which was The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
You can see Usopp's father Yasopp in the flashbacks from episode 1 and 2, he's the guy with the Afro wearing a bandana on his forehead with "Yasopp" written on it, this is not a joke
Cool set fact. The kitchen in the mansion is actually an in ground pool that the set designer turned into a kitchen. How imaginative notice they step down into the kitchen.
He is so good, it's so wild that he was in 3 really bad Japanese live-action manga adaptations before this one. (Well, okay, 2 really bad ones, and one that I just hate on principle)
thank god you got the "the boy who cryed wolf" theme for usopp. i was a bit scared that new people wouldnt get that from the live action. but im glad you got it.
Something really important to understand about the One Piece World is that anyone can become a Superhuman just be training... Kuro moving really fast is just an example... That becomes pretty clear in episode 5 with the introduction of Mihawk.
Out of all reactors, I love your reactions the most. There are a lot changes made by Live Action but never the big events. In the heart of it, it's the same as the anime. There are one "spoiler" maybe, if you watch LA before anime or read the manga. but to me personally, is not a big spoiler itself, but finding out about it in the anime itself was actually a really funny experience for the fans. I do recommend you watch the anime. I know it's a lot, 1074 episodes as of now, but trust me it's worth it. The world building, the storytelling, the lore, the characters, the comedy, the emotions you'll get in this legendary world is something you won't find from any other stories. It will start slow on the first dozens episodes but the moment you reached Grand Line Arcs, you'll see how much it dwarfs everything that happens in the East Blue Arcs. If you ever decide to watch the anime, I am one for sure to follow that, and you'll understand why One Piece is the best selling comics in the world surpassing batman and superman comics. Plus you'll appreciate the Live Action more.
@@nowwhytwo1636I agree I Hope Dos Cavazos channel stay One Piece Live Action only! I want to watch them when the next season comes out and see them be surprises and all. Even if it takes intervals of 2 years since it is so much more fun to watch people watching the live action with no knowledge of the original storyline.
Its actually really nice seeing reactions (yours included) from people who haven't seen the anime or the manga. Although fans of the source material have been very positive about the live action, they often spend half of their reaction going through a checklist of all the major moments for each story beat and what was kept the same and what has been changed. Its just nice seeing reactors, like yourselves, just sit back and enjoy whats being presented and experience all the crazy and fun things in the series for the first time without knowing whats coming. Also I think the relationship with kaya and ussop was done really well here (even better than the anime/manga). I really enjoyed both of them talking about the other to luffy, nami and zoro, and getting all embarrassed. I ship it!
You actually nailed it with the checklist thing. Same thing when manga readers critique the anime adaptation. Often have an expectation of the episode and hate it if it doesn’t meet that instead of enjoying it.
@@Angelicwings1 they can, but that's literally most positive relationships in the series already. It's nice to see an actual romantic pairing for once and ussop and kaya meet that criteria better than almost any other pairing so I prefer this version of them.
@@cresentj one thing I actually LIKED about One Piece was there wasn’t much focus on romance at all really. I’m tired of it. Especially boy/girl pairings which I find boring. They do make a sweet couple and it’s handled well I guess but I liked them as friends even more. That’s me though. It’s the same old trope they always do. The relationship isn’t even unique if they become romantic. At least with them as friends it was more unique. Even when they talk about them being boyfriend and girlfriend has been done to death. I think it’s backwards.
@@Angelicwings1 I mean the exact same can be said about platonic relationships in anime. They are done to death especially in one piece. Ussop still has a platonic relationship with almost every other character he has a significantly positive relationship with in the series. Having one that's romantic isn't going to hurt especially considering shes not going to travel with them and will hardly appear. I'd argue the relationship is actually the most unique relationship in the series now. No other significant character has a romantic partner in the series (at least none I can think of right now) therefore making this unique by definition of the word unique. And just because non hetero pairings are under represented in media in general doesn't immediately undervalue hetero ones. If kaya was guy that wouldn't suddenly make their romantic relationship better. It would add to lgbtq+ representation in media which is nice but it wouldnt make this specific pairing in this specific story any better or worse from a story perspective. The use of their relationship to produce 2 very heartfelt and fun scenes (the convo/kiss with ussop leaving and the crews reaction to it & the conversation with nami and kaya / zoro, ussop and luffy). The best scenes for that arc in the show IMO, couldn't be achieved with them only having a platonic friendship, and that's more than enough justification for me to have this be a positive change from the manga/anime. But this is a pretty pointless debate as its essentially just preference vs preference. And no ones changing their mind on that.
As a longtime fan of “One Piece” and I am amazed how this live-action adaptation delivered so brilliantly! Also the part when Buggy the Clown meets Arlong, super unexpected as it didn’t happen in the original manga. It’s such a great idea! I really love this animalistic version of Arlong because he shows his beastly self a lot especially with lots of snarls and growls. The actor who played the evil Shark Man did a phenomenal job! Plus him forming a villainous team-up with Buggy? Brilliant! 💯
Like you guys, I didn't watch the original, I always found it a little difficult to start since there are sooo many episodes. So I'm glad the live action is (apparently) quite faithful. It's such a fun show, I can see why the original is so popular.
Its very interesting how the show is both VERY faithful to the source material and also making DRASTIC changes in a handful of ways. The most important part is that everything flows and that the bulk of the material is telling the original story and its doing an excellent job.
I love these reactions, also not sure if ya'll realise it, but when first introduced, the Butler had a strange way of fixing his glasses, then we find out he have blade gloves which now makes sense of his weird glasses fix.
If you remember in the episode 2 flashback, there was a crackshot pirate in Shanks's crew who pulled a trick shot with his pistol during the bar brawl. That's Yasopp, Usopp's father.
The Den Den Mushi, or Transponter Snail is a special breed of snail in the One Piece world that has the unique ablily to communicate with each other over vast distances telepathically. Humans have learned to harness this unique skill as a way of telecommunication.
Kacee answering to Kaya's sickness with a "let's get her a devil fruit" was so natural for the rules of this world that one might say she has seen the show but no, and that speaks volumes of why this series has been going so strong for almost 25 years as the rules of this world has been stablished and now some stuff just becomes logical. Also yeah those deep moments in One Piece always hit hard. There are changes in how the series go but the key elements of what happens in every arc stay the same, Syrup Village having some of my favorite changes staying in Kaya's mansion and being a little more "horror" in style.
The game that Koby and the captain was playing in this episode was called Weiqi. It's a board game more complex than Chess once you know all the rules of the game.
As others have said, Kuro doesn't have a devil fruit, he's just freakishly fast, same as Zoro is Freakishly strong. In the anime they go into a bit more detail, basically saying that when Kuro does his superspeeed move he can't see where he's going (or can't react fast enough to changes) so it's not perfect. That's why he doesn't just auto-win any fight. As for the changes . . . they are kinda major but not at the same time. Like Luffy's fight with buggy took place in the town in broad daylight, not in a darkly-lit big top. And the specifics of the fight were different, but in general the same thing happened . . . Buggy was proven to be a jerk and Luffy separated his head from the rest of his body parts to win, then freed the town.
Happy to see you enjoying the show. This show does not miss with the enotional beats. Once you get into the anime, you'll know why this live action is so much anticipated.
This show was created for ppl that hvnt watched the show so I'm happy yall are enjoying it... fact is most ppl who hvnt seen one piece won't cuz either they don't watch anime or the # of eps scare them. The live action is a great retelling of the Manga and the majority of real fans love it... those that don't simply complaining that it's not a one to one adaptation which is an annoying critique 😅 and I've noticed other "hate" is actually just racism masked under the guise of critique. This show was fantastic and im hoping we get way more unfortunately that might not happen for a long time due to the strike 😢
Excuse me, can you put the automatic subtitles? Because I'm deaf and I like to read the subtitles the other videos were possible but not this one, unfortunately
this arc is largely considered a very important yet very easy to blow past arc because story wise it was not well executed. the live action did syrup village a lot of justice, i'd rather watch this over the actual manga/anime at least for syrup village if i had to choose one or the other
Love how much you're enjoying this! Netflix needs 50+ more seasons of One Piece just to catch up to the longest-running manga in history. Netflix needs to throw every last dollar into this beautiful live-action masterwork. Iñaki Godoy Jasso as buffy is perfect, everyone portaying these iconic characters is amazing. Emmy for the casting agent, make up, wardrobe and set design. Love ya'all for sharing your reaction to this. Tbh, GoT material level here. A++
They've changed a ton of things, but it turned out near perfect! They mostly changed how and when things happened rather than completely changing the core of the story, they adapted what they could and kept true to the source material! :D At the end of the day they kept the story and characters true and faithful, and they actually added a couple of things that are cannon that just never got to be made into the Anime and some even the Manga, which is bloody awesome for long time fans, filling in the story holes here and there :D
In Episode 1 they only changed minor stuff like added Nami to the Marine Base, she didn't fight there in the anime or manga. In Episode 2 they did change it a bit more by cutting all the fights between Nami/Zorro and the crew of Buggy - the guy Kabaji would have more of a sword-duel with Zorro in the anime/manga and the guy with the lion would have a lion fight nami or whoever.
I think a significant change is that Nami's character is a lot more stoic/cool temperament while also being a much better fighter. She's quite different, but Im still enjoying her character even if its a bit similar to Zorro.
i started reading it months ago not expecting much, but one piece has such a way of slowly grabbing you into its world/characters its crazy. im currently watching this with my boyfriend that doesnt know what one piece is all about and he's really enjoying it which i think speaks wonders to how well an adaptation works if both fans and newcomers can find enjoyment in it.
I'm so glad you guys liked the live action of one piece, like I've been a fan of yalls channel for about 2 years now, and ever since i started one piece i just thought to myself if you guy's are like watching one piece regularly or not and well since you guy's haven't then i am very excited for more of yalls videos!
A close Western game derived from Go would be Othello. (The rules are slightly different, but they are close enough that if you know one, you can easily learn the other)
Im 34 and have been en a one piece fan since I was about 16. There is no way they could have adapted the story exactly in an 8 episode format and do what this show needs to do. Without spoiling anything just know that any changes were either minimal or if major ,done in a way that still respects the spirit of the original story. There are even deep cut things that weren't depicted in the anime at all but made it into the show
The set design for this show is phenomenal! It's so immersive. The closet and the dining room with the plates all over the walls and windows really stood out.
The game is called GO. "The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is believed to be the oldest board game continuously played to the present day." Wikipedia.
13:21 The game is called Shougi, it's similar to Othello where your goal is to gain as many areas as possible but you need to surround the opponent's piece with your own. The game required high level strategy which is why Garp is playing with Colby to train him in it.
the great thing about one piece is, that outside the anime/manga there a alot of informations that was delivered trough interviews, databooks and coverstorys, so that u can chance the story slightly from the original whilest still covering up the source material
I'm currently in the thousands rn on the dub anime. This; this is absolutely everything! To get to certain things you've already seen would take possibly hundreds of episodes tbh. The streamlining of this makes it more efficient to watch in my opinion. You've still getting massive plot points but you're not having to go through "filler" don't get me wrong; some of the "filler" is actually really good and does add to things but this; this trims the fat without taking away the taste
its so sad when you find out usopp has always screamed about pirates coming because he WANTS them to come so he can have his dad back to make his mom okay again...)))): but this isnt even the saddest backstory by far in one piece so be ready
They’re are a lot of changes in the Live action but they overall story is the same and order of events are the same. As an example the way they meet Usopp is not on a ship. It’s somewhere else. Or in the Anime when they go to the house to visit/meet the Rich girl for the first time, it’s slightly different. There are also 3 characters in this Arc that are close to Usopp that they decided not to include probably bc it would just be to much of the story to try to fit in. So basically they changed things but the flow of the story is the same so even though they changed the events the characters still end up doing the main events and the order of things is correct mostly. Even though they changed things the characters personalities are still the same. The personalities of the characters doesn’t feel out of place and it doesn’t feel like “Oh that character would never do that in that situation”. Everything the characters do feel like something they would do or say even if those scenes where not in the Original Anime. And I think that shows how much care was put into the live action and how well the people working on this live action show actually understood the characters. It’s not just surface level but they understood the characters personalities enough and made them come to life. I feel like a mistake I see in live action sometimes is that when they change scenes or do something else they might make the mistake of making the characters do or react in a way that they would never do in the actual Anime. But in this live action they were spot on with how all the character speck and act, it’s truly impressive.
Regarding the changes. There were many changes but it’s mostly just moving some story around to get to the same important plot points in the story. They just took different paths to get to the same destination compared to the anime.
It mildly infuriates me that people thinks it's an adaptation of the anime. It was clearly mentioned that it's an adaptation of the manga. It matters because they are slightly different. The core story is the same they just changed how it plays out.
Since all ep are out on the channel i can say this @ 6:10 you can see when buggy is putting himself back together he is missing the ear that we see later :D
without spoiling anything as to what the changes made were, the condensed the first 63 episodes of the anime into these 8 one hour episodes and events had to change while still keeping the core story there to make the condensing of so much source material.
13:22 this is just a random comment but this game is called Go, it's a famous board game in Japan (i believe it's originally invented in China) how is this game play? Well it's a strategy board game, so it's basically about having the most territory on the board and if you surround the opponent's stones (black/white pieces) you will get that area. The game rules are quite complex but it's pretty fun and worth a try!
It only proves that LA delivers the OP really well especially to new viewers. That's why i commend them for how seamlessly they changed and summarized the scenes without getting rid the plot, message and feels of OP
Theirs this anime called Hikaru no Go that's about the game Go that Koby plays. The anime has. 75 episodes I've watched it about 4 times. I have actually learned how to play it in the 6th grade from my math/history teacher; but it's been 20+ years since I've played.
The legend is that usopp's eyes are so sharp that it allows him to get a glimpse of his future nd the stories he told Kaya are actually glimpses he got of his future....I mean it's just a saying among fans but the author hasn't cnfrmed it
It isn’t 1v1 but it covers about 95% of the source material. Think of this live action like a sacred timeline, majority of the same things happen but a few things were changed around but it all is headed the same route lol
In the first episode, Axe-Hand Morgan claimed he took down Kuro; now we know he believed he had, or maybe just took the credit to make himself look bigger.
13:19 Go is kinda a bit like othello/reversi but not quite but if you know that game, Go makes a bit more sense. 19:24 For context, you did see him. He was the dude that did the ricochet shot with the pistol. Also if you go back he is literally wearing a headband that says Yassop on it! 😅
Keep in mind there are like 1000 episodes in the anime. In many ways, it is like Dragon Ball Z with the exposition and some fights lasting multiple episodes. So without giving any spoilers, they have consolidated things, and introduced some characters early, and even added some new scenes. That being said, I LOVE how they have done the live-action. It is flowing nicely and how they fit things into this first season was excellent in my opinion.
fun fact about usopp in the manga/anime he has a long nose like pinochio and the "USO" part of his name mean lie in japanese and his name has similarity with Ésope name the famous ancient Greek fabulist and storyteller
Silly small/fun minor spoiler: Luffy's bounty, as of over one thousand Manga series, is now unknowable. They only have his straw hat picture. Fans assume it's over 150,000,000 berries, Nothing confrimed
I just want to say in case you guys are scary of the amount of episodes in the anime, actually we have some special movies that cover a specific arc/saga of the anime, there is one called *Episode of East Blue* that goes trought everything till the first 60 episodes, and then we also have another one that cover from 60 till 130 called *Episode of Alabasta* and then another one called *Episode of Skypiea* that goes from 130 till 200, not sure if there is more than it but its already 200 episodes in 3 movies, you might found it more convenient and then go for the original anime from that point foward.
there is significant changes, the skip whole characters like shushu but it's the same in spirit and the main history. It's imposible adapt everything and they have to choose. And its cool see a diferent version of the serie
