I'm glad you got to vent today, I think it calmed you down somewhat. You asked for comments of the end wood piece of the half wall. I think it should be painted white like the wall That wood piece is too distracting which distracts the eye from seeing/moving by it. It just makes that end piece stand out too much, No flow into kitchen. Also some greenery like faux ivy or Pothos spilling over and down the wall. I hope you will put some knick knack shelves on that half wall and a nice tall plant in the corner. Anyway, end wood piece should be white like wall.❤ !

I just love your new kitchen. We recently bought some property and have to come up with a house plan, which I have been working on, but new to hire someone to put it on a blueprint. I live in Texas.

I would opt to paint the end of the wall white and not do any stain on it. Your stained countertops and shelving are the stand out star and I wouldn’t want to detract from them. Less is sometimes more. ❤

Leave it alone. The stain would be too noticeable. I think it looks fine. Don't want to take away from the shelfs on the wall.

I think because the driveway was already there, and not a problem, that the County should give some leeway for the carport cuz it's just an extension of the driveway!! GOOD LUCK! ALSO I think you may be able to move the Palm to maybe the pool area. Palms usually have straight down roots, not big wide invasive roots. Your nursery could help you with what type of root system it has.

I think I would leave it as is. Put something green or decorative up there and it will be beautiful!

This is where the ball gets dropped where I live....people don't want restrictions so they avoid buying in HOA's and their covenants. So Real Estate agents don't bother to print out or know what to tell perspective buyers and don't really want to bc they might lose a sell. I blame the ppl who make their home and yards into junk yards bc that's what starts it all in order to maintain property values. Instead of individually and legally dealing with the Fred Sanford type residents, everyone else pays the price to avoid losing value. I'm sorry ya'll have had to take the hit of this unknown legality at your new home.

The absurd ordinances are frustrating and costly. We live in a nice residential area within city limits - the guy across the street has decided to run a lumber yard on his property, he's hauling in massive tree trunks, has several trucks and trailers, the saw - which he runs all weekend! The city tells us he's only in trouble if he's caught selling wood. Yes, we are frustrated to day the least. Your renovations look great! Tammy, File for a variance. I have built many homes and almost never seen a variance turned down. Make the case that the cover is fully on your driveway and you will have to cut down a palm tree to move your cover.

I love the idea of staining the shelf and the front wood piece coming down the wall. That would match the wood in your kitchen.

About your snakes eating your eggs, I’m told you can put glass eggs or even golf balls around the nest and the snakes will eat them. They get clogged up ‘cause they can’t digest and you’ll find them dead, wrapped around a tree trying to crush the “egg” - which they can’t. Worth a try?
