I went to a normal school and it was brutal for me. I look back on my life and my general education was like serving a really long prison sentence for being a child. I left hating education, which I think is why I went on to take jobs that only required you to have control of your basic motor functions. I hated doing those jobs, which followed the pattern of working someplace for 6 months, then getting crazy bored with it and moving to another stupid job. However, after the internet happened, I found a whole new world of self education. I got into programming and language learning, and horticulture and now love learning and education. I've been working as a software engineer for about 3 years now --no thanks to school.
I’m a Waldorf hands teacher and listening you explain what it’s like being a student, growing up in a Waldorf school is the best, hands down, explanation. You had me rolling taking eurythmy to the club. Oh my gosh…!!! Sending the public schooled world to listen to your explanation!! Mahalo anui loa, friend
I graduated in eurythmy and did an internship at the Wlsfdorska school in Zagreb, and I can freely say that 99% of the children in the eurythmy class were bored and were not involved at all, either mentally or physically, in the offered, in my opinion, outdated and questionable artistic method.
Hagahaga the way this is described with love and humour while also being realistic about the weird part about Waldorf is amazing! I went to a Waldorf school and kindergarten in Sweden and could relate hagaha
No problem at all. Even if they don't know to use it they will learn easily when it's the right time. Fortunately they learn so many other things that computers for them is painful ... Good isn't? Less people sick in the world because of the drugs technology... They have time to enjoy the family, play with friends, walking in the nature and they are not looking at the scream even whe they are together with other people. I used to use my tablet and mobile for may hours per day. After my son has started studying in a Wardof Education , I have also limited myself and I am here for about one hour per day. And you know, I feel sooooo ggooooood!!!! If I see the benefit for my life, imagine for my son... Don't be afraid of not depending on technology. Meet people and having contact with the nature, are the best!!!!
@@tati2058 because technology is ahrimanic isn't it? uuu so we have to stay in the middle age, without books, without technology and of course without conventional medicine or vaccines because it's a 😈 thing 🤦
As someone who went to Steiner elementary and middle I can tell you that every single one of my friends and I hated it and yuck it is DEFFO a weird cult
@@travelinglight4656 I'm not the person who made the comment but here's mine. ok so I just recently exited a Steiner school that was so horrible I was suicidal. My brother also went to that school and he almost had to redo year 2 because they taught him NOTHING. we now have huge problems with that school that I will not be sharing but I can tell you it is BAD. I swear to god one of my friends has really bad anxiety and she had to do homeschooling for almost a year now because she is so scared to go to another school after that horrid experience. I still believe that there are good Steiner schools out there, but the school I went to gave me a whole load of trauma. And when I was at the school I thought this was all normal!?! When I tell my friends at my current school about this they say "My LaSt ScHoOl WaS wOrSe" Like NO IT WAS NOT!!! Also one of my friends sisters had to redo year 2 because she couldn't read. That family actually left the Steiner school (that I went to which was horrible) and went to another one (which is way better) and they are still a Steiner school but yet they still said she had to redo year 2! So I don't know what this man is talking about because u are DEFINITELY supposed to be able to read by year 2. Edit: we also didn't have 1 fricking math lesson either. It was all "We GoTtA dO sInGiNg" and no actual learning. One of my friends still goes to that school and she said they have devoted the ENTIRE of Wednesday to singing lessons. Overall I just have a lot of trauma from it. Sorry for typing sm, hope u read it byeee 🤍
I always envied the kids that to go to the Rudolph Steiner School. I was musically and artistically interested and received no support to learn any of it in Germany public school. Everything I learned about and in art I taught myself as an adult. And I never learned an instrument because in Germany they don't teach you instruments in school. Your patents have to get you privately lessons outside of school then you get to participate in the school choir.
I had a Steiner school in my area growing up and I remember wanting to go there sooo badly. Although unfortunately it was a bit much for my single mother to afford
My mum & I were in exactly the same situation. She wanted to badly to send me to one but where I grew up, there were no state funded steiner schools. I have ADHD and route learning-style mainstream education was hellish for me- despite my genuine love of learning. I'm 22 & still so so jealous of anyone who had a Steiner education.
Consider yourself fortunate that you did not go. Steiner schools offer substandard education and are cults. Those who go through Waldorf Schools need years of mental health help in order to recover from all the damage these schools do.... along with lots and lots of tutoring and remedial education, especially if you want to go into the sciences.
I am all for alternative education, but it seems like waldorf spends a disproportionate amount of time on arts and crafts. and it has this weird witchcraft vibe to it too.. lol
Hogwarts probably offers a better education 🤣 Art and craft can be fun and it's nice for young children but it won't get those kids qualifications or the skills they need for university or employment, unless they want to go to art college
You say you went to a Steiner school in Australia. I was recently looking into one for my daughter who is due to start next year but when I dug I found a shitload of information and claims of abuse from emotional all the way to sexual. Apparently most teachers are ex students who married other teachers and one girl said that in year 9 kids painted nude portraits of themselves that were displayed in exhibitions on campus. Any thoughts? I was extremely disappointed because it sounds great in theory but I’m not going to pay a min of 4 grand a year for my child to be abused.
Your child will be the safest they will ever be.... in context my only criticism is the freedom: for instance my teachers would drive me home, we would show up to teacher parties.. etc it was all in good fun but yeh boundaries are kinda loose
Because, of course, no sexual or emotional abuse happens in other schools. Burying Waldorf schools because of the behavior of one or two sickos is just plain idiotic. They are good schools. Not perfect but a heck of a lot better than most.
I go to a Waldorf or Steiner school now it’s different it has changed this one at least we don’t do eurythmy any more except for like a month and for kindergarten a pine cone was my only friend though I did make some great friends through Waldorf that’s really the only experience I’ve really garnered from it though I still don’t know why my parents chose for me to go their were by no means rich
Well kids should be learning to read the way Bella the polyglot learnt - through play from the age of 2. Language centre of the brain is most active then and reading is a language. Children should be fluent in reading by age 5 - equal to their vocabulary - age appropriate books.

@@Mantis-therian_grrr oh my gosh, definitely some issues. I think they need to jsut come up with some schools that are an in-between of mainstream and Steiner. I couldn't read until I left the Steiner education system which was year 4. I had to have a lot of tutoring to catch up because I'm also dyslexic and it wasn't picked up soon enough.
A lot of this stuff sounds great, especially about letting the new generations create their own mould through their expression and behaviour, rather than forcing them into our pre-existing one. But why hasn’t it been rescued from the connection with an eccentric Austrian occultist that had twice as many confused, hysterical and absurd insights, as he did genius ones? Why not cannibalise and extract the good, then build on that and update it with new findings. I’m sure this is basically what happens in Steiner schools, but why still have his name attached? We all know some teachers are gonna get a bit Scientology about all this stuff, and become unable to separate the rational insights from the racist and deranged ramblings regarding spirits, past lives and how the melanin levels in your skin betray your moral fortitude. Many white teachers will feel like they have been all the shades and have finally arrived at some higher level of karmic energy or whatever, it’s impossible to avoid when you claim this guy to be a genius about so much, “oh, but yeah, he’s wrong about all this?” This isn’t how the human brain works for many people. It’s like Islam, it’s hard to accept only parts of Koran, if some of it is flawed, than that could compromise integrity of the entire ideology.
@@albert9271 you actually think it’s good/better education system than any other it’s actually ass the teachers don’t care about what they teach you don’t learn anything the the Steiner certificate isn’t actually equivalent of a normal certificate from a state school and isn’t actually recognised everywhere plus we don’t get government funding but it’s lucky I’m dropping out
@@Frisky_FZR I always forget that Steiner schools aren't government-funded in most countries, and thus can do whatever the F they want. But to receive the funding they had to adapt the curriculum so that every child has approximately the same formal knowledge when going to secondary school as the children in regular school. Plus teachers need to have a "fundable degree" meaning that they all got regular teacher training first and Steiner training second because otherwise, the government won't pay their wages. I feel like this way the entire idea of letting children be children and learn on their own schedule but with the same endpoint works better than in unregulated private schools.
