Short answer: It's a graphical placeholder for level designers during early stages of game development.

*Note for Self:* @2:54 author states: “2D is hard for modeling architecture & 3D handles perspective for you.” I agree. I wonder, if with my workflow on iPad Pro: 1) use *Affinity Photo V2 app* for manipulating the architecture assets, and create the 3D dimensional plane of the asset. 2) use *Mental Canvas app* to provide perspective fly over. If I can combo these for speedy workflow and free up time, I’ll be in a good position to enjoy my other aspects of life. Author has given me fresh perspective, even though, video has nothing to do with my situation. I love these kind of discoveries.

Glad you’ve found it helpful. Whatever technique helps you get to where you need to go the fastest is a good choice, glad the video inspired some ideas.

Idk about anyone else but I would love a series on industry terms and how to adapt in the workplace 😅

I have a few videos coming up discussing industry terms, although the biggest problem is almost every single studio calls the same thing something completely different. For example, I've had the job title animator, technical director, digital artist, concept artist, digital matte painter, etc and for the most part they all mean the same job. :) But if there's any term you specifically want more info on, let me know and I'll see about discussing it. And could you give me more info on what you mean by adapting to the workplace?

I have never worked in the industry so I don’t understand pipeline pr what should be done in certain situations. Like say if a product is being made the only thing I understand is the blue sky phase and nothing else.

@@shaunfuqua So every company I've worked for has a very different pipeline, depending on the people involved and the type of project being created. If you want a good example though, check out the Pixar in a box videos, they discuss the whole pixar pipeline, you may find it interesting: www.khanacademy.org/computing/pixar

Hi Neil, You do such an awesome job on your videos.. Every video is very educational and makes us look at things in different persepctive being just a beginner in this field. Thanks a lot for that! So how do you take the client brief process from start to finish, if you hand some tips for us it would be very helpful for beginners like me.

Thanks Bat! So if I understand your question properly, I have a video on client briefs here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lHsX7VYdxpY.html and here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7jS1Rm3wB4g.html and once I have all the relevant info, I basically do my normal workflow to produce artwork to show to the client: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GPbAoNQgR0k.html Is that what you're looking for? If not, feel free to ask me any specific questions and I'd be happy to answer them!
