Just finished the new course and it is AMAZING! You break everything down systematically and it makes so much sense. Definitely the best instructional I ever bought. (And I’ve bought alot). Super beneficial if your a white belt or blue or even purple belt. I’m rewatching it over and over until it becomes second nature. Nice work man!
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu For sure man! A lot of schools and instructionals make the assumption you will either pick this stuff up or you already know it. But no one is actually teaching it! You are filling a big gap with this for a lot of people.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Finally someone who closes the gaps between theory and practical examples. This teaching approach you're delivering was missing for years, a lot of people learn faster by understanding the theory behing the movements (like me). I think you will do great with these kind of tutorials. Gratz!!
For those wondering about the Jiu Jitsu Theory course, I just purchased it and started watching it. This RU-vid video is a really solid preview of the deep dive you’ll get from the whole course. Totally worth it!
This video is the most useful I've ever seen for someone proficient in a primarily-standing grappling or jointlock-focused art (Hapkido, Aikido, Judo), who is trying to learn jiujitsu.
I have my own RU-vid channel but my goodness Jordan teaches Jiujitsu is by far the best channel on RU-vid. I send your videos to my students all the time. I have a personal theory of inside position and Id love to share it with you Jordan if possible. kudos for making important content like this.
The editing of this video just elevated your videos massively! They’ve always been super detailed but this is next level. Just might have to check out this theory course…
4 months into my BJJ journey and this is a video I’ve been looking for to understand more. This will allow me to play my game not get so stuck on every detail
This is such an excellent video! Everyone, new and experienced, should watch it. I say this because I've been training Jiu Jitsu for 3.5 years, and I've never heard someone explain the inside position in such a clear and exceptional way. Well done!
Jordan the amount of information I absorb from your videos is incredible. Obviously you cannot beat actual training on the mat, but you give me so many things to think about, I find myself trying to pull them out during practice. You have really opened my mind, and helped increase my confidence and understanding of Jiujitsu with your videos.
That's so great to hear! Really means a lot to me. I work so hard on the channel and to hear it makes such a massive difference for so many, really makes it all that much more fulfilling 🙏
Is this similar to what you offer in your course? The production level of this is amazing. It's like taking a college class on BJJ, rather than just watching some coach show a move. Quick edit: I just have to say that this is a really high quality production. I love that you cut between positions and camera angles, so it's faster for us viewers. I mean there are many great BJJ coaches that make instructionals, but the time spent talking about the meaning of a japanese word and the context of 1000 samurai warriors and some obscure facts, and changing watching the coach move about on their butt as they change position to offer a different angle, is just a waste of time. Jordan, awesome that you really utilize the video media, and don't just treat the camera as a student. This really seperates you from the rest of the BJJ RU-vidrs. Plus the stuff you teach is also of high quality. Not naming names, but some of the highest regarded coaches in the industry could really learn from you. Short, concise, high production and high quality content. Damn.
Hey man just wanted to say that the quality of the content on the course is equal to this if not higher. Its literally 2 hours of concise, jam packed information, quizzes and it’s being continually updated 💪🏼
This video is really great. I'm just starting BJJ and remembering all techniques is extremely difficult, specially at the beginning. Having these principles make it much easier to infer new techniques while rolling and not having to remember everything. Thanks for the video.
Curious to hear you expand on underhook versus overhook games and the pros and cons of each vis-a-vis inside position. I know some pretty mean rubber guard players who are happy to give you the "inside" to work their overhook game. Granted, I think the principles you are explaining here still apply there as they are definitely controlling the space you're talking about when they do that and managing hips to avoid the tight passing. Thank you!
Overhooks are inside position but less than an underhook. Doesn't mean they're necessarily worse though. Overhooks are easier to get. I often give up underhooks from guard because I'll happily take an Overhook.
From bottom butterfly guard I like overhooks. I like either 2 overhooks or 1 under/1 over and find sweeps easiest this way. I'm just a no stripe blue belt though😅
Absolutely your best video yet dude. Well done. It reminds me, in a good way, of the Gracie U: 32 Principles of Jiu-Jitsu which is also excellent. Amped for the course 👊🏼💥
The "why" is so important and I will take more from this one video than most technique classes. When I'm moving I can't memorize every single grip because it's a 3D game, but just thinking at each pause am I inside or outside will help really help me. Thanks Jordan!
Dude this is great...seriously. As a white belt I often feel lost when I get into a position I am unfamiliar with. Having a proper understanding of the concepts behind jiu jitsu is really helpful for me getting to a stronger position even when I don't know a specific technique.
Thank you for the kind words, Luke! I appreciate them 🙏 And I'm glad that the video has been helpful. Ya, understanding the concepts will take you really far. Much further than if you were to just focus on the techniques 🙂
The BJJ Theory Course is absolutely brilliant. Jordan is a completely clear and concise instructor. Never wanted to visit Canada before I found his channel.
I just bought the course and started watching it. It's great, worth every penny! I'm 33yo, female, very new to bjj, only 5 classes in and I have never done any contact sports before. I find the content super useful, it all makes so much sense now! I imagine it would take me years of practice to get the understanding of the theory presented in the course. If I was a coach, I'd recommend this course to all the beginners!
Thank you so much!! I appreciate the positive feedback. I always get nervous I release anything, the RU-vid videos included. Really makes me feel good seeing how well the course has been received 🙂
Im 52. Ive only had five classes. Sir! This is great content. Ive been wondering the "why" in all of this and you cleaned that up for me. Usually, i see stuff like this online and put it off until some type of black Friday sale. Not this content! I would do myself a disservice to wait until this goes on sale. Im buying your course asap! Thank you sir!
Your Theory Course is super reasonably priced! I'm used to seeing huge price tags for courses. Thanks for making this stuff more accessible than the usual online courses!
Love the way your mind works Jordan. The WHY is the key to applying the how with greater and greater success and skill. Jordan you help people to take ownership of their Jiu Jitsu progress.
Nice Jordan! The concept of inside position is fundamental to my system and it gets interesting when you are on a shot or bodylock. For example when you stepped to that side bodylock off your inside control, he actually has inside hip position. So even though you are under his arms with the bodylock (inside) he has inside hip position, which is extraordinary powerful. So, although I generally teach my guys that underhooks are preferred to overhooks, if they end up in a side bodylock with the overhook, they know how to use their hips (which are inside) against him. I hope we do get a chance to meet this summer, because this is exactly the system I would like to teach to you. You are young and still very capable of then taking that knowledge very far with your own students and to the masses. People in BJJ will benefit greatly from what we use in Greco, Freestyle, and Collegiate. The systems are directly applicable to BJJ. I use them all the time.
I hope so too man! I'm going to make sure that happens. Michigan is calling. I love and learn so much from your videos. I shy away now from side body locks after watching your explanation on inside hip positioning. Makes total sense. Can't wait to learn from you in person and exchange knowledge :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu might be better for me to come up there. I shoot videos at my house and my BJJ professor is not into filming at his school. That’s basically why I have to shoot my content during the spring/summer/early fall
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 either is good with me. I don't mind filming in your garage. All though my gym does make for a nice back drop for videos. I'm 5 hours from Detroit for reference.
I’ve been training about 15 months and was very happy to find your channel early in my journey. I love everything you put out and constantly go back to specific videos to reinforce techniques or positions I’m working on. Just picked up the course and can’t wait to dive in!
The course is great! I’m working through it slowly, but really enjoying it. I’ve always found your way of teaching to be so easy to understand. I hope I could come up to Canada and train at Limitless someday!
Holy shit! Someone that finally truly speaks my language!! (I love conceptual thinking and principles but often times you have coaches that either don’t teach it at all…‘only the “how”… or when they do teach it, they get too wonky and kind of talk over your head.)… your use of analogy and clarity in explanation with practical examples was SPOT ON!! impulse buy coming now! Excited to hear more! ❤
Hey Sean, thanks man! I appreciate the kind words and ya, definitely man, I don't like when people go off tangents and make BJJ seem more complicated than it is lol. Straight to the point, that's my style 🙂
I'm in on the course, seems like Dominant Inside Position Controls video cuts off at 13 minutes, did it get truncated? So far, it's a REALLY GREAT course. Well worth the money and I'm only 18% in.
Really enjoy your theory explanations on why/how to do techniques. I come from a technical background for trouble shooting components and if I understand what something is supposed to do then I can figure out why its no longer doing it. So, with your explanations I can use theory to prevent advancements instead of trying to remember techniques.
I love these concept videos. I learn so much about submissions, positions, and transitions (passes) from my academy. So, a video like this that breaks down the why is great for some like myself. Thanks 👊🏼
Nicely done, Jordan. One of the things I always drill into my students is that the space between their armpits and knees is sacred. Don't let anyone control that space. 👊
Love the principled approach. I came back to BJJ after 40, and I'm now a 1 stripe Blue belt and it is the concepts and principles like this that have improved my game recently. Like you said the techniques are good, but it is the principles like this mean I can find it easier to relax and focus on the principle when rolling. Great vid.
Great video. I'll definitely point people towards this one if I need them to understand inside position. I remember one of my first huge lightbulb moments was when our head coach just said "keep inside position" to me. Blew my mind how powerful that concept is.
hey jordan. another great video! I just had a quick question about outside position. Is it ever advantageous to have outside position or should you always be fighting for the inside? Thanks Adam
Sensei, you have really upped the video quality and annotations as well as concept explanations. Can you do a video on frames ? Separate request - there is a famous case of a BJJ instructor paralyzing a student who was in turtle position. How do you safely do a turtle position with a heavy hip base so that instructor’s move to flip him on his head won’t work?
Great stuff, Jordan! How do you think this concept fits with how Craig Jones talks about splitting the legs and keeping the feet off the floor as a means of control?
I haven't watched much of his stuff but I do 100% agree with that. It's included in the theory course. Layers of defence like I spoke about at the end also apply to on the mat. You can't let people put their feet or knees on the mat because they will use them to stand up.
Jordan i suggest your channel to all my bjj friends and training partners...you have some great stuff and your style and body type is similar to mine ..i also love your easy going way your explain things and love how the videos highlight key concepts to improve us all...great work
Totaly blown away Sir 🙏 As a newbie BJJ I cant thank you enough - to make it all a little clearer! Love your videos, and BJJ. Totaly hooked after only 3 sessions, so far! This and Shotokan (just started at that, as Karate been a longtime dream) is All a man really needs 😁👌 OZU!
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Thank you Sir. Really appreciate your kind words 🙌 Oh and both Shotokan + BJJ feels like magic and compliment each other so good 👊👑 Ozu!!
Jordan love your content! 45 and been training almost a year. Are you still offering the discount for your Jiu Jitsu Theory course? Keep up the good work!
Great intro, this is something I've thought about too, being almost completely new to the sport. If only the price of the course would be more affordable..
I’m going to get the course. I feel like I owe it to you from all the info I’ve gotten for free from your channel! Does it cover more effective ways to spend your training time?
Hey Jordan, just asking if you could do a survival rolling video where you don't focus on submitting and passing and focus on just defending and escaping positions and submissions (using frames and other key fundamentals). I think it would really helpful for white belts. Keep up the great work!
This kind of content is awesome. As a six month white belt, I've started trying to focus more on fundamentals and basic concepts rather than techniques. It just doesn't seem worth it to focus on "trying moves" when I don't have a good understanding of these basic concepts. Thanks a lot for putting this together.
@Jordan Teaches Jiujitsu I'm just a three strip white belt. One day, I would love to make it to one of your camps or just visit to get whooped on by you. Lol You have help me get taps on all the way up to brown. I haven't ever legit got a black belt yet though. 5' 8" 155lbs. Austin, TX Thanks again.
Definitely buying the course. I'm an upper level purple belt, and I fill in to teach the no-gi class at my gym sometimes. I'm good at explaining how to do a technique and breaking things down step by step, but I'm not great at explaining why you do things in a particular way.
Bro thanks a lot, I’m 2 years into Jiu Jitsu three stripe white, and your videos are the best I’ve seen in my opinion, of course other professors as well no doubt, but in my opinion I feel like you are the best, I improved drastically by seen a lot of your videos, thanks a lot. As well I have a question: is there a video that explains how should Someone establish grips fast and depending on game situations?
