I had the first, "temporary" installation done a few weeks ago. I demanded its removal after only two days. Among other problems, this device caused rolling Charley horses in my left thigh to the knee, with total numbness and painful "buzzing" from the knee to the heel. Also, I had strong PINCHING of my perineum, regardless of whether I was standing, sitting, walking or lying down. And walking up or down stairs was impossible. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN CONSIDERING THE POSSIBILITIES OF THIS DEVICE AND RELATED PROCEDURES. I'll be talking to an attorney tomorrow morning.
Do you have any answers as to what could be a next option if I have tried this option now several times since 2016 and they never last longer than 6-8 months. My body has a lot of scar tissue in the area where the leads go and now they even put a second Neurostimulator on my left side but the implant is now moving around under my skin and my bladder spasms are back, along with nighttime incontinence. I have to wonder, what other options are there? Or should I simply being doing self catheterizations? I am a Type 1 Brittle Diabetic who had a bad car accident which brought on the diabetes and the complications that go with it. My stomach no longer digests at a normal pace, my bowels are collapsed in some areas so it can take forever to digest much, so I live on protein drinks and smoothies. My bladder is asleep when I pee even when on the toilet as it will simply NOT let me void completely so it can take a long time to get back to bed. I am thinking of sleeping on my toilet. Or I have heard about the SupraPubic Tubes and wonder if hat could help or would the risk for infection be too high due to my Diabetes. The wind can blow and I end up in the ICU with another episode of Diabetic Ketoacidosis. So my doctors know how complex my issues are due to the trauma of my car accident. I shattered my right ankle and my right cheekbone. Last summer I lost the hearing in my left ear within an hour. The ER sent me to an ENT and they tried the steroid injections 3 x’s with no success, but they then told me my left jaw bone was eroding, I had a horrific amount of arthritis, TMJ, and yes, I now have Sleep Apnea. What a joy of a patient am I?? Ay, yi, yi. Any thoughts would are very welcome. Thanks for your time should you even get to read this.
I was born with myeolomeningocele spina bifida. My urologist said (2 years ago?) that I’m not a candidate for interstim because of my tethered spinal cord. He just retired in December and I see a new urologist in a week. I wonder what his opinion will be.
I have an OAB due to a spinal accident but suffer from urine retention and fecal retention. Oposite to incontinence.Do you think this proceedure of SNS will be helpful?
I'm a 21 year old female in the UK and have an OAB. I'm beginning the test period on Friday (in 2 days) however I'm not actually sure whether I'm getting the 2 step procedure or whether at the end of the test period I will have the wires removed and placed back on a waiting list. I have been on a waiting list for this for over 2 years and have been trying different solutions for 12 years... I'm beginning to get nervous.
@@soalcamara5233 hi there. It certainly worked for me although there were complications along the way! It was a 4 year process with multiple surgeries. However we are now up and running.
I’m an OAB patient who has a neurogenic issue with retaining urine that began after neurosurgery. Because of the condition I have, which requires monthly monitoring via MRIs, I’m hesitant to get this implanted because I don’t know how it (the implant) will be affected by the MRIs I need to recieve. Will it be easily aggravated, and react strongly to the MRI?
Kevin Moore - sorry for the really late response. Interstim is not a good idea if you need MRIs. The magnet and the metal in the generator do not work together. Newer devices may be ok for head and neck MRIs but you always should check with the specific device prior to any MRI procedure.
