My ESTP daughter is so cute. I figured her out when she was really young. When she was old enough to read and understand, I told her, "Okay smarty, I am still Mom. You have to do what I say, unless I ask you to sin. But it's your responsibility to learn what sin is first." She took that and ran. Her conscience is solid, developed, and she has always been confident in telling me, very politely cutely enough, when she thinks I'm wrong. And I have always honored her words, and when she's right, honored her objection. As an INFJ mom, she's been a blast to raise. We didn't have the ti, te, fi, fe vocabulary so I used words that fit our lifestyle. But the concept was the same.

I get the sense the Ti is gullible toward believing assertions that are "more logically consistent." But just because something is illogical and doesn't make sense based on the available information, doesn't mean it's not true. By the same token, just because something makes complete logical sense based on the available information doesn't mean that it is true, because there could be factors contributing to the truth that are completely impossible to know at that point.

I think making an assertion based on the information available at the time is the most logical and efficient thing to do. New information can literally always be presented since we cannot know what is not known. Since the concept of "new information possibly showing up" is a factor that is a consistent possibility, it is not "gullible" to believe what is more logically consistent at the time. The alternative, based on your logic, would be to sit there in perpetual indecision waiting for the possibility of new information being presented. - signed, Ti protected by Fe

Wrong. Dont let the bad information on this channel ruin your self image. I will leave you with Jung's words about Introverted thinking " ...)introverted thinking shows a dangerous tendency to coerce facts into the shape of it's image, or by ignoring them altogether, to unfold its phantasy image in freedom. (...) There will cling to it a certain mythological character that we are prone to interpret as 'originality'". I'll resume. Introverted thinking is this: you think something (a theory) in your head and then you search for evidence that prooves you are correct. That is why introverted thinkers tend to dismiss evidences that contradict their theory because they are comitted to prove their theory to the external world and to themselves. It doesn't mean cause and effect and it doesn't mean they are more intellegent then Te users. This guy has inttoverted thinking high up in his cognitive stack... That is why he comes up with all thesr claims that have nothing to do with Jung's definition of the functions. He is free to share he's observations but this is not what Jung wrote about the function
@CSJoseph
@CSJoseph 6 лет назад
Attlas yeah I am not trying to share what Jung wrote about any function, at best my content is “based on Jung” but not just Jung
@amber15993
@amber15993 6 лет назад
That is obvious to thouse who read Jung. Not for thouse who haven't read it. If you made that clear on your videos I wouldn't be on your channel quoting Jung, specially the introverted thinking function. And I am still waiting for you to prove your claim that Jung initially called Ne the collective unconscious. That was the most bizarre thing I heared on this channel
@CSJoseph
@CSJoseph 6 лет назад
Attlas I think you are right that Jung did not specifically label it as such, but definition wise, they are the same. Tbh, I don’t care about proving it, any statement I make can be proved or disproved later which in turn causes me to change. I am not perfect nor do I claim to be. Nor do I care about the haughty judgments of Jungian purists either. They can barely reach the layman as it is, which is not useful to anyone in the long run. I admit that I borrow from a variety of sources while not preaching 1 standard from any specific school of thought. I take into account multiple schools of thought and lay it out like a completed puzzle while adding more pieces as I go.

(i am INFJ she is INTJ) Sometimes she tries to explain me something logical but i refuse it because it doesnt suit to my own logic. And even if she proves it i sometimes get really stubborn lol. But i think because i have Fe dominant too i also try to understand what people feel and think. Thats why its not that hard for me to understand other people's logic and try to accept it. But even if i try to accept their logic i usually dont abandon my logic totally i just say that "i understand and approve your statements and logic but in my opinion if this was like "a", it would be better."

I have come to realize that this definition of Ti vs Te is highly influenced by David Powers and differs greatly with Jung's interpretation. Thinking based on common logic is not actually dominant Te, but it is an "unconscious " or immature form of thinking which Feeling dominant types and Perception dominant types use. For Jung Te is empirical thinking while Ti is theoretical ideas . The Ti dominant type is not so concerned with his idea being disproven, as he is with its originality and simplification. Te types love to debunk everything with objective fact.

Have you ever heard of the pandemonium theory model on decision making? This is the perfect analogy for Ti. In a nutshell, Ti would be where the group says a bunch of things, but then the "decision demon," as it's called in the system, decides regardless of the group, like a king would in a kingdom. Te, on the other hand, like you've described in your system (which is very useful btw!) would be much more demoncratic: all the members of the group vote and majority rules. Thanks very much for this explanation! I'm ENFP so I really struggled to understand Ti - my brain defaults to Te.

Really liked the Ti ~ truth part late in the video; I am never trying to hurt people's feelings lol! Why would that interest me?? Far too often, I find that people add a value judgment before they've understood the principle. There's nothing wrong with value judgments per se; but, as an example, feeding all the children in the world by using coercion to extract resources from the productive to give to the unproductive is a non-starter - if only because it abrogates the very principle upon which you purport to stand. That might not be an especially good example - but I think it gets the point across.

SPOILER - LONG FEEDBACK WORTH READING Hi CS Joseph, First of all, I have to say that your content is exclusive in a way that its value is probably one of a kind. I can't remember anything that had such an impact on my life the way that what you are teaching has done to me. Now I have developed quite a good skillset when it comes to understanding people and interacting with someone as I have become fairly good at understanding what archetype they are and what their brains work like. However, I have noticed something. I saw that when I explained to people a little of what I now know about analytical psychology and why that is useful they all immediately get hyped and they wanna learn more. So I suggested them to check your playlists on youtube out. And so they all did, cause they are fired by the topic's potential value. However, almost all of them said that they found it quite long and difficult to stay on track. My first reaction was like "fine... They are just not willing to spend the dedicated time on this topic". But then I also realized that your teaching might have worked so well with me only because of the way I am. I am an ISTJ, and stereotypes apart, I am quite good at being a student and learning. I could see the value of what you were saying (for whatever reason ... my ENFP subconscious might have had a role on that but who knows) and so I began taking notes, organizing them in a way that made sense to me, reading them, and practising. But I am aware that not a lot of ppl wants to do that when they are on youtube. Anyways, now every day before going to bed I am translating my notes into Italian (mainly cause I want my relatives to understand this), adding some illustrating images, keeping a structure that aimed to be easy to read and not forcing the reader to remember a lot of stuff, and keeping this fairly complex topic as concise as possible. I have finished doing the introduction, cognitive functions, and cognitive function attitudes chapters and gave it to my Italian friends and relatives. They loved it. It is only 60 page long now and they read it in a week on average. They got so excited that now they asked me to write about each of the archetypes 😂. I work as a tech in the financial industry. My career clearly isn't about either psychology or writing. And you know way more things than I do. So I really feel like you have the potential to blow up in what you are doing because people are super interested in becoming mind hackers. Haven't you thought about hiring a video editor and working more on the format you teach this? Adding animations and images might attract people that learn more using them, and adding shortcuts when you talk might help the listener stay more on track and not losing focus. This shit is dope and I can say it changed my life! You are a freak!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥

@TomiAdewoleAdetom
@TomiAdewoleAdetom 6 лет назад
Very, very good. I do think - and I may be wrong - that Ti in the INTP is almost never "wrong"; rather, he/she may have started with a problematic axiom and thus built an inherently unsound system. In a very real sense, I (for example) "almost" like being wrong more than being right, because there's so much more new information to glean from the former: 1. What, precisely, was the dubious axiom? 2. How and why did I assume it true (this is the most information-dense and thus illuminating) 3. Did Fe play a part in my lack of thorough introspection on this particular matter (doubtful; but worth taking a look lol)? I find that the ENTP is the enjoyable "debate/discussion" partner. - intp
@TomiAdewoleAdetom
@TomiAdewoleAdetom 2 года назад
@Michael Loftus I suppose "anything is possible" but this may be worth considering: if the axiom is, indeed, wrong, then of what profit would there be (insofar as Fe is concerned) in making wrong, Fe-based logical connections? The Fe perturbation that led to the original incorrect axiom is alread satiated by making said assumption - the uncomfortable truth has alread been avoided. What, then, would it matter if the logical connections are poor? It seems to me that the opposite would more likely be true since the axiomatic error was made to "protect the ego", so to speak. The logical connections part is "what we do" as intps; it's sort of an animal instinct that runs in the background. I'm definitely not saying you're wrong, Michael (that would be a silly claim); just that a deeper understanding of the process is more suggestive of axiom establishment requiring Ne; whereas the logical connections part requires Ti. Think of it this way: Ne is the baked cake and Ti is the knife slicing it into equal parts for your guests. You might burn the cake (haywire Ne - misunderstanding of temperature settings) but you aren't going to slice 6 pieces for 4 guests. In cases of mental illness or something similar, perhaps.

I can totally relate to the TI hero. I care about the truth. I don't care about your feelings about the truth. However, I don't like to hurt them with the truth sometimes. for example - if human's gender is determined by genitals then there are only two genders but I don't wanna force anyone to feel in a certain way that can make them live with emotional pain. I'm not so pushy about it like some peoples like Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro As long as I know the truth it's good enough for me. My next course of actions will be based on that truth. Also contrary to popular belief, I don't think abortion is okay. Because murdering human is not okay. Does it make me Fi user instead of Fe? I give conspiracy theories a chance but if I somehow find a logical flaw in their theory I say goodbye. So I guess I'm a Ti user
@bonogiamboni4830
@bonogiamboni4830 4 года назад
Well, maybe the abortion thing is less of a "i feel it's evil to kill babies" and more of a "i think it's counter productive to kill babies" since you need extra laws and bureaucracy, it can be used way too liberally by some people and the aborted baby was murdered which is illegal, so it's less choosing something according to Fi and more choosing according to Ti which overpowers Fe.

If it’s truth then feelings don’t matter. False. The problem with “truth only” is that what’s usually most important is how you respond based on that truth and in most situations that are multiple truths and some of those truths are with regard to emotion and personal experience - which are I guess subjective truths but truth none the less. Who is to say which truth is most valuable to prioritize?

To give more context when I feel worthless, is when someone that really really means alot to me ghosts me, that act can really crush me and bring me to my Fi mode, but the unhealthy version of Fi, instead of the healthy version of it. So I self destruct, I bully myself, not intentionally, it just happens like that, because of how highly depressing it is. My Te is like, I can take everything in and even out of connecting logical and sometimes irrational, people's opinions and everything into consideration and produce the final result that finally works and delivers the results where Ti user keeps pointing me how irrational I'm and he's the one with no results to show because he teared everything apart in right or wrong. Hey @C.S. This makes me curious about what kind of thought processes would lead an Fe hero to support an ideology (such as a pro-life agenda) that opposes the collective. My Dad, for instance, is an ENFJ and very pro-life, and he came to this opinion (and the religious convictions behind it) largely through research and study. I'm wondering if he now considers the church and the faith he now belongs to as his new "collective" from which to draw ethical judgements. What do you think about this?
