Good review. You are really up to speed for working there for such a little bit. You have a good understanding about how things are done. I'm impressed.
Worked 19yrs for Costco and loved everything about it until Craig Jelinek took over. Now the company could careless about employees. When it comes to promotions, they pick whomever the manager likes, not the most qualified person. There is also too much fraternization and favoritism going on , which Costco claims they don't tolerate(lies).
So very true my friend and if you are not in lockstep with their program, you will find yourself on the outside of outside looking in. I am out at the Brookshire Texas depot, they recently forced out a 33-year veteran facility manager, because the depot was low performing after being open for only 8 months. So never think for one minute that they give a damn about you. People are literally walking across the street to Amazon and getting hired because their hours were cut. If you're a person of minimal education and are willing to tolerate BS and are partial to brown-nosing, Costco is a great place for you. How you lasted 19 years is incredible, I'm thinking about a change already, it's intolerable.
I work at Walmart e-commerce if you are late even 1 minute you get an occurrence. 4 of them and you get a step. But there's a loophole if you use 2 hours of your sick time you can avoid any occurrences. At FedEx as long as your percentage of lateness didn't drop below 85% you didn't get in trouble it's calculated by the month
They tend to rotate you if your main position is the front end; however if they are short a lot they typically have you over there full time, they have a different scheduler though so it depends on what area you are scheduled for!
I remember when I worked there on Black Friday years ago, there was some cashier that was so serious about the total daily sales of all the locations in the region. He was asking around saying, “Hey how did we do? Did we win?”
I have worked at costco for 12 years...I am a woman and I LOVE pushing carts. Me and my female coworkers push them better than the men. As for being late, you can have 3 lates in 1 MONTH! you get written up on your fourth. If you are late more than 3 times a month, obviously there is something wrong with you. Late is 4 minutes after your scheduled shift. When there are snowstorms or accidents where I was at a standstill (I had no control over), management didn't let it count. If you get pulled over, that is on YOU! The reason costco prefers executive memberships (2%on your purchases and a check cut to you you before your renewal date)is for people to be more inclined to shop exclusively at the warehouses since they are earning money back. Costco gives people checks usually more than the membership is worth! Employees get a free executive membership. Anyway, we get paid so well that I don't need any "compensation" for upgrades. Knowing that I helped a member save money is enough for me. An acknowledgement from my supervisor does make me feel good, too. I'd take a high five lol
Yes, benefits only apply if you are full-time status. Everyone is hired on as part time when they first start. After your probation which is 90 days you can apply for a full time position. However, when you first start you can also sign postings Even if you aren’t past probation and if no one else with higher seniority wants the job then you will get it.
I just got hired as cashier assistant..I'm still in training but have been told they can make you do any job there that's needed... So that includes cleaning up shit and puke getting carts..those two things alone I'll be done ..sorry I live in Florida..I'm not pushing carts ..or cleaning up someone's shit or puke Don't care how much they are paying
Exactly right. I upgraded 14 gold star members to executive in one shift. All I got was a "you're doing awesome.".... you think you would get incentives, but no
I’m not sure I understand your question entirely, but if you work in another whole store like a Trader Joe’s or something they have the potential to hire you at Costco, you just have to show them that you are a worthy candidate
ahhhh i remember that! all you gotta do is go up to your supervisor and manager every day and ask how your doing and how you can exceed their expectations. usually they say nothing but the fact that you are trying to be better shines through and that’s what they ultimately look for! does that answer your question?(:
@@dbamax omg thank you so much!!! Yessss haha I’m just a little nervous because I don’t really know how the 90 days work but I really appreciate you replying and helping me!
absolutely! yeah i remember it was a stressful time then, just keep your head up, usually the people that cared about making it past the 90days were the ones kept(: what position are you in?
that’s awesome! one of my favorite people worked in bakery that i met through costco. i loved transferring departments because every time the job started to get boring i would transfer and i would love it all over again and became closer to different people all along the way!
I think it’s reasonable to write you up if you are late 3 times in 20 shifts 🤷♂️. Especially considering you can literally be 3 minutes late every day with no issue
yeah, but I think write ups for that versus having provable car trouble should alleviate it, but hey not my company and I mean they still were a very fair employer
I work for costco but not the store, i work at the depot great pay best benefits sick pay vacation bonuses. I notice only the lazy people dislike it not hard to be on time to work. Adults plan for inconveniences flat tires, accidents and traffic stops. In two years I became a supervisor with good work ethic and integrity. You’re just young not much younger than me but before costco Ive worked a lot of hard labor jobs in 120 degree heat, so i appreciate costco 100%.
Heaven forbid you go to lunch and forget to swipe out 1 to many times or u return from your lunch literally a min off Or want to wear an earphone while ur pushing carts... After the Store Is Closed Fuck all they're little rules fuck all they're little procedures they can all sit and spin Shoot one hot day I'm out pushing carts sweating my cheeks off and a supervisor coming from the gas station going inside just tells me over her shoulder so non chalauntly to take my towel off I was literally stunned You probably haven't touched a cart in years yet it's so easy for you to tell someone else to expose them selves to the elements? What the hell is wrong with you?
Its the Union bro. They dont care if they'll get fired, they can just go to the union and complain. They can get another job or transfer to a different location. Thats how union work.
Im sorry but costco’s leadership structure and it’s promotion system is fucking terrible. They don’t care about qualification or performance and its crazy.
I wasn’t really saying that it was wrong, but I am a gentleman at heart and would like to treat women with a little bit more kindness that way they don’t have to deal with that type of stuff
