Of course there is, otherwise it would've been perfect, which it isn't, and that's why PAF is working on it. Clearly they know something we don't. So, we must have the capability for any upcoming upgrades. What is latest today will not be so in the next 5-10 years. There's always room for improvement and upgrades.
JF-17, J-10 & J-20 are primarily manufactured in Chengdu Aviation Corporation (CAC), while Flanker Copies (J-11/J-15/J-16) & J-31/J-35 are designed & manufactured at Shenyang Aviation Corporation (SAC). Hence it's literally impossible for CAC to start producing J-31/J-35 by discontinuing JF-17 Production It's literally like saying that Boeing will start F-16 Production while Lockheed will focus on JSF-35 & NGAD or Sukhoi Aviation will Focus on Su-57 & Su-75, while Su-30SM & Su-35 will be produced by Mikoyan Aviation (although they've been merged under the umbrella of UAC, but hope u got my point)
Raised some good points, but FYI PAC has been manufacturing almost complete airframe of jeffy, PL5 & 12 have also been manufactured by AWC and only then we've become confident in FAAZ

Bro in order to modify and customize JF-17, PAC need to have patent of JF-17. Currently that patent is on an engineer's name at CAC. Which technically means that its patent is with CAC. Now in order to modify or work on customization of JF-17 by PAC, first they need to buy patent which itself would cost $$s. Currently this apears to be a challenge.
Yes but what do you mean by modify? Do you mean it should be scaled up to a medium weight category like India and Sweden did with Tejas mk2 & gripen ng, or general modifications to make it more stealthier and agile on same size.
@@unknown_5107 the point is simple and self explanatory. Even the modifications that were suggested by PAF/PAC for block 2 and block 3 were communicated to CAC and with their engineers approval things happened as patent has a significant role. Any sort of modification required you to have patent of that particular subject in your own hand otherwise the next party can sue you. It’s not limited to uplifting its category from LCA to MRCA or any other airframe or fuselage modification. It’s a business oriented domain apart from defence. And as per business, the party who has rights can do anything with that particular subject. PAC would either first buy its Patent or they won’t be able to do anything on their own. May be they would go on a same model as per which they would ask CAC for modifications and with its approval the changes would be reflected. As per undisclosed source, PAF wanted to have CFTs onto JF-17, the idea was rejected by CAC.
