@HipyoTech can you check out the hyperX alloy 60 please? i've heard it's a nice keyboard but i don't know for sure. it also seems pretty good for the money!
I don't mean to seem beggy, but alas, I would really like to run a custom keyboard by you here in the comment section and you can tell me if you think it's good, and very possibly make an Akko vid on it? Pros and cons? It would get lots of views because a lot of people like Akko. If that is not for you it's fine, I am just honoured for getting a like from you and you replying was enough to make my day, thank you so much, keep Hipyo-ing!
Keychron has had force break mod on all their aluminum keyboards since at least 2022. They even re-released the Q1 (version 2) with a forcebreak mod because of the pinginess of their Q1 design. People overtighten the screws and compress the silicone force break to where the aluminum still comes in direct contact. If you have a keychron board and think it's pingy, try loosening the screws 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
I’ll also say I actually believe it was Scott from Keybored (a keyboard content creator) who invented (or was at least the first to show it) the force break mod specifically to help with case resonance back when the Keychron Q1 came out years ago! keychron got that feedback presumably more or less at the inception of their aluminum two piece boards.
Guess what its still pingy. Keychron sucks ass for its price. sounds like a tuning fork unless you stuff it with so much foam the assembly starts flexing upwards Luminkey is way better for half the price.
i feel like they are following the trend of other chinese brands(like rainy75, qk75v2 and hi75) on this new one. i know people form west doesnt know about this, and most people dont even know that keychron is a chinese brand.
Wait- Hipyo- Saying a keyboard is GOOD? -no. TOO GOOD? If you are being held against your will by glarses for complimenting Cherry Mx Browns say this sentence in your next video because I know it's something you would never say: ASUS is climbing the keyboard ladder and becoming a strong competitor to many large keyboard brands such as Akko.- This will stand out to your LOVELY VEIWERS because Akko will *ALWAYS* stand tall and never be defeated. (Wink wink pls custom Akko keyboard video/s wink wink)
@@HipyoTech I saw and tysm, your channel means so much to me as a way to escape from everyday life and get a chance to retreat to the dark nerdy corners of my brain (almost all of it) and get absorbed into the Hipyo goodness. I have not used many keyboards, a total of two, but am getting a custom Akko keyboard that I am making with my friend and would maybe like to run it by you as it is the first one i am making and want it to be good. If not, thanks for replying. Just seen this vid, very good and I see why you like it. Keep doing what you're doing and continue to be brilliant.
You need to review all the improvements they've included in the Q1 HE - The double-rail gateron nebula switches are absolutely heavenly. RTINGS reviewed the new receiver (1000 MHz polling) and you can see in their performance graph how well it works! I'm definitely excited for more of their lineup to include this module.
This is it right here. I'm going to buy one eventually. I was in contact with them and they told me they're going to release more HE boards in the coming months. I'm waiting for a 65%
I was just shopping for a clean, lowkey-looking keyboard and it was so hard to find a plain case that's not outlandishly expensive. So I'm glad Keychron's cases are plain. If you want something else, I feel like there's plenty of other good options that you reviewed in this channel.
Very important to point out that Keychron recently added encryption to their 2.4 GHz connections via a firmware update for the dongle. This puts them leagues ahead of all the other Chinese brands as none of the rest have encryption. The only other viable options are gaming brands like Logitech and Corsair.
hey Hipyo, i just upgraded my logitech g pro tkl from blue to yellow switches, lubed them, made my own plate foam, did the tape mod and added case foam, lubed the stabs and oh my goodness does it sound good now. thanks for the inspiration, tips and tricks!!
great video, and I enjoy watching your stuff since I'm new to the hobby. I have tested a LOT of switches lately to start seeing what I like. Keychron, Cherry, HTX, etc. I actually really like the Gat banana switches. Gives me the tactile bump I like with enough click to smile. But not enough click to make my wife or clients gets made at me haha. Granted there are some others Ive kind of liked, but at double the price. Which isn't enough to want to use them. Its all preference, just thought I'd share since it seems like you dont like any of the keychron switches haha. One side note I couldnt figure out though, was what the difference in those super banana switches and the ones Gat banana switches? hit the topic for 3 sec and moved on and I really wanted to know lol. Thing I dislike about the hobby is how crazy the switch names all are and some the have the same name by different maker or slight different name.. I which there was a super index of switches.
Obligatory please give your thoughts on the Ajazz AK820 pro comment. Seriously it's a $50 board made of plastic that could almost pass for aluminum with how thick and heavy it is. It's even got flippy feet, a LCD screen, and knob??? The software is also nominally... good? Sure VIA support would have been better, but most of this works well enough (not the options to change the LCD screen, that's a mess). But it's the sound that comes off this thing that blows me away. I'm using your coffee keycaps with HMX Poro Linear Switches from Kinetic Labs with this board and the sound coming from this is pure heaven.
Great video. :) Are you into Low Profile keebs? I'm looking for a new TKL 80% low profile. I've glanced at Keychron's boards, Redragon K621 Horus and G515 and G915. Preferrably a ISO-nordic layout since I'm in Sweden, but don't know, maybe non - ISO will work after getting some use to.. Got any input on another brand or any recommendations? :) Cheers!
Separating the down motion (key compress) and key return (key rebound sound) with longer pause would make the sound test so much better and this review perfect. We all know that o-ring will silent the compression of the key, but how to silent key rebound? Well done.
After looking into a new keyboard and watching your vids I eventually came around this one! I’ve had it for a month or so now and it’s my first custom (even though I got it prebuilt) and I love it! I’m not brave enough into modding it yet but maybe one day!
Switches and keycaps are the easiest change to make, and you don't have to unscrew anything or pry anything apart. Just use a keycap and switch puller.
@@Logan-nl4ws - Depends. Do you want silent switches, clicky switches, linear switches, or tactile switches? The feel and noise profile is different on each, and there are tons of varieties in all four. I would start with some reviews on different switch types. I'm using Durock Silent Dolphin switches, which are a bit expensive, but my keyboard is a lot quieter since adding them in, and I don't regret the purchase.
I very much want an in depth review on the magnetic keyboards. There are others, but please start with Keychron QX HE series. (I am partial to a TKL and a Q0 keypad combination, but I think I'd get the point of a review with a 75% or whatever.) The rest of my comment is about the Lemokey L3 which I own and I am pretty happy with. Before that KB, I mained a Keychron K8 which I modded/customized, but was never really happy with. I have a Lemokey L3. That is a TKL, knob KB, with 2.4GHz, BT support for up to 3 devices. I have the Keychron Red switches ... which are "fine." I wish they were quieter, I want silence in fact, but you know ... real life. It's a pretty good KB. Aside from replacing keycaps and adding O-rings to make up for my own heavy handedness ... it's stock. Yes it has a force break, but I have not needed to open it so I can't confirm what the force break is made from. I can confirm it is ping free. Also it weighs a LOT. Much more than my MacBook Pro 16". Seriously it feels like 4Kg. (8.8lbs for my fellow Americans) I got an early version ... and the wireless features were problematic for a while - wouldn't connect or would randomly disconnect. After a couple of firmware updates it settled down and became reliable and "driverless." I can recommend it now. I don't like the keycap sets it had available... I don't understand the obsession with RGB backlighting paired with SOLID no shine through keycaps. Sorry - I think shine through keycaps need to be the default ... I can turn off the backlight if I don't want to see the legends. I ended up getting side facing keycaps ... a similar set are now an option on the LemoKey site. Mine were a set I got from Amazon, and I repurposed some extra keys I had from a spare set of the K8 stock keycaps for the MacOS function keys. These are still not "end-game" keycaps, but they are shine-through, and they have an unusual look that makes them worthwhile and eye catching.
Great video, and crazy timing! I got my first mechanical keyboard two days ago, the V1 Max with Jupiter Red Switches. I was almost going insane with my old membrane, and it feels heavenly in comparison. Plus, the ISO version of the V1 Max came with the Q series white and blue keycaps that just looks way better IMO. Super happy overall!
I bought a V10 Alice for work with brown switches and love it. Used to use a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard many eons ago, but after getting into mechanical switches, I was hooked on them, which unfortunately meant having to give up the ergo board. I've searched over the years, and mechanical ergo boards have always been very niche and way out of acceptable price range. But the Keychron Alice boards are actually priced pretty well. Well. Unless you want a numpad, then its double the freaking price. Which sucks when you do IT work and punching in IP addresses is part of your daily activities.
The configurator software of Keychron is a nice bonus, but it's very limited compared to what you can do with other Keyboards that have visual configurations, like the Dygma Defy or the Moonlander.
Worth mentioning it is a BT keyboard imo. As a both windows and mac user this is a huge plus cause I would intend to use it with the 2.4hz adapter on windows and BT for mac. Big ups there. Worth the money on that regard
Wow, you really made the video right after I got my P1 Pro. No idea why they just made more appealing Q1 Max. Granted, I don't have a Q1 Max to compare to...but what else could this really be missing that's worth that much more? Also, it's BLUE!!!!
Hey man I just rlly want you to know how lucky u r honestly me being Farley new to the community I really enjoy how goofy fun and enjoyable your videos truly are and your ability to do what you love and inspire others like me is genuinely insane also the brand deals man like my gawd u literally have more keyboard at ur house then I have brain cells (wich doesn’t say much 😂 with my empty ahh head) any way ✌️
I’m currently working on building my first custom keyboard with a royal kludge r75 and putting on some different key caps and you and switch and click are my biggest inspiration.
you should do a video shooting out a few different HE keyboards soundwise and feel wise! A lot of people have done the videos just purely on gamer things and thats it. Maybe, keychron, drunk deer, wooting, etc..
I've been keyboard hunting for 5 weeks now and i've learned a few things. The hobby is a huge disappointment and pain in the rear. When you think you found your keyboard you find out its been sold out for months maybe even years. The used market is still bad because those keyboards you found are now going for double the price. Also, if you do find one in stock that ticks all the boxes the board is severely overpriced at $300-500+ its absolutely crazy. So instead of getting a nice unique board i'll end up with another keychron because theyr're in stock and have a volume knob. I wanted a zoom75 but because of how its sold its never in stock for more than a few days if that lol. But your channel has helped me with some pointers and definitely how to mod things effectively and on a budget.
I found my forever keyboard, the RK84 is awesome, I changed the switches to AKKO Lavender V3 Pro and got a foam kit lubed the stabilizers and I'm in heaven.
I would like to hear your take on the Q1 HE. I like the idea of being able to customise the actuation point but want to know how it feels to use compared to traditional linears.
I BINGED your content yesterday looking for a keyboard. This is not really the one I wanted, but the one I ended up going with in the end… why? Because I’m completely new and just upgraded from a bland 10€ logitech keyboard and I come from a country where I need both German AND french layout typings. That means I need swiss keycap layout out of the box, and for that layout, this was the ONLY one that offered this setup. I was about to pull the trigger on the womier sk75. But that would have been 120€, with a barely functional layout to me. Adding the keycaps would have cost at least 60+ around 10-20€ shipping. So I’ll enjoy this one which I’m sure is going to feel like a mad upgrade for me anyway, and I’ll see if I need modding down the road eventually!
this is my first enthusiast keyboard and i love it. i got it a about a month ago. did the tap mode and durock v3 stabs and CK pastel lemons and im super impressed! the web page is the most user friendly and has a tone of features. the build quality is also very very good.
i really hope they come out with a 96% version of this keyboard as that's what I mainly use and I'd like to switch to a keychron as my daily driver (i do prefer the numpad as I have it memorized and it makes it easier for any number-based data entry that I have to do)
At this point there have been so many good Keyboards around the 100 mark that I've just lost track of them. Any chance you'd like to make a small ranking list of your personal favourites for different factors? Out of the box / modabillity / sound / feeling / wireless / whatever you'd like to rank them on?
I have the Blue P1 Pro and it seems to be better on fingerprints than the black. To me it sounds and feel better, case is a little smaller and lower in the front that my Q1 Pro. Out of all the budget 75s I have which is pretty much all of them right now except the SK75, to me the ND sounds the best out of the all AL ones. I have Baby Ks in all mine and each has their pluses and minuses. This sounds better than any Keychron I have and I have upgraded all of mine with their acoustic packages. I do which it has the bouncy flex of the Q1 Pro though, that is the one reason I still have that keyboard... All that being said the one recent 75% that hasn't left my desk as my primary since I got is in the NuPhy Air75 v2. I did put baby Ks in it but still using the stock caps which feel great even though I usually use GMK. Not sure I have ever seen you try a NuPhy board but if you get a chance the Air 75 v2 is definitely worth taking a look, it's different than all the others in a similar price range with the PC bottom but just sounds and feel fantastic to type on IMHO. Great review on the P1, we are definitely on the same page on this one!
when there are (and have been) super high quality stock switches on the market for years, I find it staggering that so many prebuilts (especially above $100) ship with mediocre to bad switches. I’d just be shocked if 99% of people buying at this price point wouldn’t be happier with gateron milky yellows (if there’s a need for RGB LED diffusion) or many of the HMX and Bsun offerings. Transparent polycarbonate top housings almost always sound thin it seems.
Im thinking of backing the new Keychron K2 HE special edition in white. I've had a Corsair K95 Platinum XT with brown switches for a few years, but I want a smaller keyboard and a keyboard in white. I came across it and the aesthetic will fit very well with the white and wood finish. Ive just got absolutely no idea if ill actually like the damn thing LOL. I mainly game, but pretty casually now days. Pretty new to keybaords tbh, only had a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth (before they made their own switches too!) before my current keyboard, which i also had for years.
Just got the Womier SK75, and I'm loving it. It's so far beyond my old membrane keyboard it's not funny. I've used my friend's Keychron too, and those stabilisers are pretty rattly.
Do you have any plans to do a video on the Ajazz AK820 Pro? Or would you recommend it at all? I see a lot of talk about it in forums and it’s a bestseller on Amazon.
I ordered a Keychron Q1 Pro ISO CH 2 months ago. Today I otdered the ISO barebone Lemokey P1 Pro also with ISO CH keycaps. Damn why only Keychron provide ISO CH keyboards ???? I love the design of 8bitiso but.... Only ANSI ... Why !???? I don't want to change my typing layout. Where on earth are the other ISO keyboard brands? (Please no Logitech)
Hmmm interesting. I've never really cared for Keychron boards but I am in the market for an inexpensive 75% with a knob. Been looking at the NJ80. I love the Rainy 75 but really need a knob (I'm always in need of convenient volume adjusting). I'm kinda getting tired of my GMMK Pro that I've been modding over the years; I like it and put a lot of work into it, but I really want to try something different, especially since the mechanical keyboard landscape has changed so much over the last couple years since I started with this one.
So Im about to get my first mechanical keyboard and amount of options overwhelm me 😵 I have a budget so cant go all out. It comes to between Lemokey P1 Pro vs Bridge 75. Witch one do you recommend more for mainly gaming purpose ?
I have my eye on the Gamakay LK75, but im really going to miss the shine through RGB I have on my logitech keyboard. I want to see the letters on my keys, not the space underneath.
Well I was hoping this was going to be a look at Keychron's hall effect keyboard but this was a pleasant surprise. Though I would still like to see a review of Keychron's hall effect keyboard.
$34 to get a much heavier metal keyboard but without the extra receiver. There was already barely any difference between the Q1 Max and the V1 Max. The V1 Max only has one color too. I went with the P1 Pro because metal and blue!
I've got a Keychron K3 Pro V2 RGB. I don't know, but I really like it for working and gaming. The only thing is: new switches only can be found on their site. I don't know about caps, didn't try to change it yet - but I will since the original ones are ABS that get greasy very very easily.
Any Gateron or Nuphy low profile 2.0 switches should work (I've changed the larger keys to Gateron low profile bananas for some extra feedback compared to the browns on my K3 Max), for keycaps most work as long as the attacking stem is at the same level as the key's skirt - otherwise the skirt will start hitting the keyboard plate. Womier and XVX have pretty good low profile options if you don't need non-UK ISO. If you want low profile non-UK ISO keycaps, you're pretty much out of luck.
I think I'll wait for Keychron to redesign their L3 (as well as a price drop or discount deal) then have it as my home unit, and have the K8 Pro as my studio keyboard (now cleaned with Akko V3 Creamy Yellow Pros in it)... but this tempts me to try out a 75%, tbh... even though what I do always compels me to have a full-sized or TKL.
I really like the 75% keyboards but the fact that I normally use a ISO-ES layout means that I can mostly only get Keychron keyboards… so I’ve been thinking that maybe I can buy the barebones and make my first custom keyboard, and that way I could make the cons of the keyboard better, which are the switches and keycaps… only thing is that ISO-ES keycaps are as expensive as the keyboard itself hahaha
First of all love your vids. Can you pls try out the ajazz x epomaker ak820 pro with the ajazz gift switches it has a knob also and it sounds really good
@@CrazyBRT thanks a lot for the recommendation bro. I had a look at the keychain V6 and the layout is perfect. But it looks a bit boring but that's the best one I have seen yet :)
@@CrazyBRT epomaker friggin sucks bro, look up problems with their keebs and you'll find a whole articles worth with minimal searching - they have crap QC and half the time their boards either arrive DOA or start malfunctioning within months, it's not worth the hassle ordering them just for a chance to get lucky with QC, good luck with getting an answer once you contact their support either lmao
Hipyo, I have a request: I know you hate 100% keyboards and numpads, however, can you please review some of the big sellers 100% keyboards. For your viewers that like them, I might actually be the only one, who knows. Story time: I just got into customizing keyboards, I watched hours worth of videos but most of them are about numless keyboards so I went and bought a Keychron V6 100% with red switches. However, I purchased gateron milky yellow v2 switches to replace the red switches mine came with. I didn't care what color switches it came with, I was going to replace them no matter what but I wanted to hear their version of red switches, which were quieter than I expected. I was looking to get a semi-thock keyboard as I did not want to spend a lot of money and all the thock suggestions I've seen are numpadless, I decided to try my hand in making my own thock-ish keyboard with a prebuilt and just switch out the switches and keycaps. Except... I liked the keycaps that came with the V6. They aren't the best by any means but they are comfortable to me and I don't mind the sound at all. I did order some keycaps from Drop that ended up not working with my south facing RGB, again brand new to this and didn't know south facing would make north printed keycaps barely shine at all, thought they would be bright enough or reflex off the inside of the key enough to show through but purple keycaps with, seemingly, grey (backlit) legends makes for some very hard to read keycaps whether the RGB is on or not. Bright or dark room, just can't read them well. So I was hoping you could review the numpad V6 along with some others for all the things you look for in the smaller % keyboards you love, except with the "stinky" extra keys. Thank you if you read this and decide to make a video. I am too new and don't have the money, or a youtube channel business and thus tax write offs, to afford trying all the keyboards I want to :P
Wanting to go a little bit off topic. but I know I can find good answers here: Epomaker TH80 pro or Redragon UCAL K673 pro? I found some deals but I don't know which one to buy ! I heard epomaker are scam? Thank you so much
Keychron's get an End key (5 more keys total) with their (series)3 versions i.e. Keychron Q3 Max, Keychron V3 Pro, Lemokey L3, there is no Lemokey P3 yet unfortunately. You can always reprogram another key to behave as End, though
Sometime it's a bit frustrating... I'm "just" looking for an 100% and maybe some extra keys, wireless (not (only) BT), QMK/VIA keyboard, optionally with a knob that preferebly is blue. Something like the Lemokey L3 or P1 but bigger or the Keychron Q6 Max but in blue and with a knob... and not breaking the bank? Something, that's good enough, sounding and feeling good. I guess, I still have to patient...? Hopefully, one day I'll own my perfect keyboard :D
Lemokey sounds soooo much like a "let's make an entry level low cost brand and keep Keychron aside to go nuts on price later" so now I'm fully expecting a ludicrous keyboard from Keychron under keychron with a software you download with Lemokey using a forked qmk/via online easier to maintain
I hate how convoluted the system is to customize the keychron keyboard. It's not even a program or application, you HAVE to use a website in order to customize buttons and lighting
