I've never heard it said that kashrut was ordained to encourage good character traits (sensitivity to other species) or the mystical aspect of it. These explanations plus the normally given ones present an absolutely strong and winning case for following kashrut. These override my thinking about missing out on my 'favorite' foods! I've got a question. What about hunting? The animal obviously isn't butchered properly or at least it's life was not dispatched in the method you described so is eating deer or elk or other wild game permissible?
Well presented. Read the Italian immigrants in New York always bought their meat from the Jewish butcher....fresh, clean and safe. I clicked on this video hoping to get a basic rundown on how Kosher is made & why making it in a very specific way is important (why that specific way); but a fourth of the way thru I'm very confused. Please keep in mind I'm not Jewish nor a Jew by blood. I'm Christian thinking giving recognition to Kosher just because it is there in Christianity. Either way, you talked about registered trade marks, and I think I'll just look for those. It'll make things a lot easier. For me anyways. It amazes me the similarities between Muslim halal and Jewish kosher food. Animals with split hoofs are halal to eat, with the exception of pigs and wild boars and their by products. Blood, dead animals are forbidden, and animal slaughtered in a non halal methods are forbidden to eat. Also birds of prey, scavenger birds are not halal to eat. And when it comes to sea food the similarities are almost exact between kosher and Shia Muslim halal requirements; Sunni Muslims eat almost all sea food. But in Shia Islam only fish with fins and scales are permitted to be eaten and they have to be fished out of the water ALIVE; shellfish, shark, octopus, eel, lobster etc and scavenger fish are not permitted. ِAlso in Shia Islam there are 14 parts of the animal that re forbidden: 1- blood, ( reproduction parts): 2-penis 3-vagaina 4-testicles 5- fetus... 6- glands 7- spinal cord (long nerve to the brain) 8-Spinal marrow 9- cerebellum (part of the brain close to the neck) 10- jaundices 11- spleen 12- bladder 13-eye pupil 14- parts of the hoof.
