@jimmytaiwan I do not want to be rude,But don't you do any research before posting any video about any topic?? I have noticed this in many of your videos. There's nothing like that upper class is rich , lower class is poor. Infact the upper class people were the poorest.... Materialistically ....But in spirituality and Knowledge... they were the richest.
The caste was like a Social Respect System. The first and Most respected class Brahmins ,were the Teachers ,Writers, Engineers , Architects and Doctors.... overall the well educated people. The Brahmin class also included the Scientists, Philosophers and Researchers and Priests .They didn't work for money ...so it was considered the societies responsibility to fund their work...But still they were materialistically poor.
The kshatriya class included the warriors and Rulers. The Vaishya class included the Businessmen and traders. The shudra class included the Artisans and the people involved in any miscellaneous job. And the Dalits class just included the Criminals from any class...So it was not basically considered a seperate class.
@@godmorning2839 Well, China doesn't have "Dalits". And the average Chinese "Shudras" enjoys a higher living standard than the average Indian "Brahmins".
One little clarification for non-Indians: Brahmins may be the ‘highest’ social class, but that does not always (or even mostly) equate to the highest economic class.
@@ken_c508 Read up on reservation system in india. they have all the representation in govt bureaucracy and politics, problem is that most of them are not that bright and face hardship due to economic reasons, so hard for them to come out of circle of poverty
@@yanlizhang8610frankly there are many problems , but the old caste system is breaking away in cities and towns . Dalits are helped by goverment in landing jobs , housing , medical bills and marriage. I am from so called 'upper caste' . We don't get any kind of help from the government . Everything is biased against us . We can't get into goverment jobs because 70% are reserved for backward caste . The media is biased against us , even the law is against us . There are separate laws for same crime , depends upon the victim's caste . You don't see these problems from outside . There is no place for meritocracy in India and that's why we are lagging behind . Incompetence and corruption has taken over due to so called reservation . The other side justifies this in name of social justice.
@@yanlizhang8610 lol ,80% government job holders in India are people from backward castes . In India there is reservation system for lower caste people. In most of the competitive exams the qualification mark for the lower caste people are usually 50-60% whereas it's 90-95% for upper class aspirants .
It is propoganda there was no caste system at the time of budhhha. There were previous buddha sukiti budha was the organizer dhamma and sangha. There were no Hinduism(brahminism) at the time of buddha. Its mere propoganda most there evidence is based on scriptures which is in devanagri script which is was in developing phase between 8th-12th century. There no archelogical profe of this thing.
No, communism removed most of the hierarchy. It is more based on meritocracy. In Ancient China, meritocracy was also promoted where people who passed Imperial Exams will be appointed into civil service to serve the emperor and thus improve their social statuses.
@@s._3560 Your view of casteism in India with rigid hierarchy & segregation is also wrong. I'm not denying its existence in the rural areas but it has been mostly wiped out in the cities. India is not like Apartheid South Africa. But yes, problems still exist. You cannot change everyone. Just like in China there is classism & racism. Are all Chinese like that? No. But some definitely are.
Caste and economic condition are not synonymous. People misunderstand this, upper castes can be poor and lower caste can be rich. It was based on profession not salary ...

Jimmy.. great job! I would suggest you also introduce which state this Brahmin family is located.. I heard in your episode the male owner of this family mentioned about Gujarati taste of one bread so it should be located in Gujarati state (belong to the Northwestern states of India where their language has somewhat linkage to Hindi). Guess you are aware that the four Deep South states in India are mainly considered Dravidian states (meaning the dark skinned aboriginal people mixed blood with the Aryans migrated from Central Asia). Also regarding the caste system even my middle school teachers did not know the caste system in fact is imbedded with the Surnames such as Sharma and Shah often are referred to the Priest (the Brahmin caste) and the surname Patel representing Knight and Khan meaning King.
caste is an apartheid, imagine you did a crime and you are told that your coming generations will be segregated to your own caste and this has been going for 3000+ years in inddia.
