No one understands the Gospel better than our Lord & Savior, the Author & finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ.
Today, we continue our journey through the Gospel recorded by the Apostle John.
As we open to John 5, we are listening and watching the eyewitness record of John, who was the closest of all the Apostles to Jesus.
The Holy Spirit uses that proximity and loving eye and ear of young John to give the most unique of all the four Gospel accounts.
But before we dive into these verses, we must remember why the Gospels are opening the New Testaments before us this morning.
The Four Gospels are for Christ’s Church
The Four Gospels and their powerful presentations of Christ’s gospel messages were written:
• FOR Christ’s Church;
• TO Christ’s Church; and
• BY the Apostles of Christ’s Church.
The Four Gospels were each written after the birth of Christ’s Church in Acts 2.
The Four Gospels were written for those saved and trained in Christ’s Church.
The Four Gospels were written during the very era when Paul and the Apostles were taking the Good News into all the world and to every creature.
The Four Gospels should be the richest treasure trove in Christ’s Church; we should be mining the very words of Christ as He speaks to every heart laden with sin.
The Gospels are so powerfully the voice to us, the Church, of God the Son, the Savior of the world.
So, as we open to read together from John 5:24-30, remember that John captures the content of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was sweeping the Roman Empire.
When the Holy Spirit of God moved upon John the Apostle to write, God wrote down the Gospel According to Jesus.

This theology is very edifying to me. ❤ I died and He lives in me. Therefore I truly live and I want to be like Him ❤️ There will always be stubborn goats, the Lord deals with them like He always has. He continues reminding them that He doesn’t have favorites, and His work is always His way.

Although in ways known to himself, God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelise all men.

I think it’s so cool that you got to know Frances Schaeffer. I know he’s not Christ, and I know you aren’t Christ- but I sure do appreciate the amazing disciples He has given us so graciously through the years. To God be all the glory, honor, and praise! Thank you sir. I’m a proud subscriber……or as I like to call it, “tither”.

Can you or jmac, please explain from bible how owning a liquor store would disqualify somone from salvation???
@Amaberean
@Amaberean 3 месяца назад
It doesn’t “disqualify someone from from salvation” But i would find it interesting to see how someone who DOES come to salvation, and starts learning and growing in the Lord, would start desperately trying to justify and rationalize STAYING in that line of work. I mean, just think about it for a second. Is one going sell an obvious alcoholic a bottle of whiskey in one minute, and then start witnessing to him in the next minute, about how Jesus and come into his life and save him, AND help him to get off the stuff- that YOU just sold him, and deliver him from the sin that is killing him? In pretty sure that all the disciples LEFT their former lives when they started to follow Jesus. If you’re a christian are you sure you’ve thought this through?

@Amaberean the bible does not forbid drinking, it speaks against drunkenness. So is it the liquor store owners responsibility to keep that in control, or the person buying the alcohol?

I still don't understand the answer. If you've never heard the Gospel, do you go to hell? Thank you very much :)

They get judged by God outside of salvation and the work of Jesus Christ. They go to hell because they died in their sins rather with sin forgiven. Some will get judged severely, some less severely, depending on the level to which they suppressed the light and truth they were exposed to.

If Jesus is not our Lord, He is not our Savior. Let us not be fooled! We do not want to be one of those who will be turned away on that day when men stand before God. The way is narrow, and the road is straight, and FEW be that find it. Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Verse 22 MANY will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Verse 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it. Our sin has set us all on the road to hell and no amount of good will fix the sin we have done. We have ALL sinned. It is not about the type of sin or how much sin. It is about the fact that we have sinned. For that reason we all need a Savior. If we want forgiveness for our sin and peace with God. If we want to escape eternal hell. If we want to go to heaven we must understand the following. We DO NOT get saved (go to heaven), get right with God, forgiven, by being good, by being religious, by just believing in God, by praying a prayer, being baptized, asking or accepting Jesus into our hearts, accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour, confessing our sins, joining a church, cleaning up our lives, doing penance, taking the bread and the wine, or doing all these things accumulative. Salvation is a gift that is given to those who repent and come to faith. Eph. 2:8,9 Salvation takes repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 20:21. testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Make no mistake. We cannot be a friend of Christ and remain a rebel against God and unless we repent we remain a rebel. The word repent, from the Greek word “metanoia”, means a change of mind or direction. God is not receiving those who almost or kind of repents. It is like the word About-face which is a 180 degree turn. We turn from not wanting God fully in our lives to willfully surrendering to Him to lead our lives. When any person comes to the place where they are broken over their sin toward God to the point that they want to get right with God no matter what it will cost them they are in a state/spirit of repentance toward God. Luke 14:33 Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. The repentant heart would walk away from anything or any one to get right with God. We then take that willing repentant heart we have towards God and place it on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Master, because He paid the price for our sin, and that becomes faith. At that moment God’s grace through Christ is freely applied to us and we are born again, saved from eternal hell and sealed by the Spirit so that we will never again return to the practice of sinning. 1John 3:9,10. Our first command after salvation is to be baptized. Repentance of sin is the result of the new birth/salvation and will be part of the sanctification process and our new life with the Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 2:10. While we may sin from time to time after salvation it will never again be our practice 2Cor. 5:17, 1John 3:9,10. John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. REV. 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. It all boils down to are we sorry/broken enough over our sins against God and do we want to get our hearts right with Him or not. Let us be sure that tomorrow does not belong to us.

If salvation is a gift from God, we should stop preaching Gospels. Let God save each one individually, as He has done to Paul. Is there anyone who is not deserving to be saved by God?
@jeffc5474
@jeffc5474 4 месяца назад
@@domini1331The reason to preach to Gospel is to let people make that choice to accept that free gift. However once you accept that gift there is an expectation of change. You cannot be saved, and yet still engage in the sinful activities that you have always done, then are you really saved?
@JohnSmith-ug5ci
@JohnSmith-ug5ci 4 месяца назад
@@domini1331 It is true that salvation is a gift, but also true is that God has decided how the gift was to be transmitted and received. You have heard and refused, but if you repent you also can receive the gift.

The guy who asked the question on Lordship salvation is dead on, it’s a reactionary movement that just causes confusion. No one actually believes “easy believism” it’s just a liberal cloak. But hammering lordship salvation genders strife and doubt in believers. I find it as a back door for legalism and rivalry.
@ricksonora6656
@ricksonora6656 4 месяца назад
Easy Believism is common. It ignores the need for salvation and is sometimes called “quick prayerism.” Jesus wants to be your friend or solve all your problems. Sin, judgment, and the cross is minimized. Lordship Salvation was a reaction to it. It confused repentance and reform, making reform a cause of salvation instead of a result.

Nobody gets saved without believing that Jesus is Lord. We don’t make Him Lord. He IS Lord. It’s like the Canon of Scripture, we, or some council, don’t DECIDE what was scripture. We (the body of Christ) DISCOVERED what WAS already scripture.

@@ricksonora6656read Rom 1:16. We are saved by believing.
@quadrasaurus-rex8809
@quadrasaurus-rex8809 4 месяца назад
@@ricksonora6656 I’m pretty sure we are in agreement and you understand what I’m saying. I’m in no way saying Jesus isn’t Lord of my life or creation. I’m just saying that the terms have become “politicized” to the point where it essentially represents a false dichotomy. In my opinion all the isle walking, door knocking, and Roman’s road has its place in a broadcast mission sense. But that’s just that, broadcasting (agricultural term) the gospel as we’re generally supposed to do. Very few (not at all minimizing the value of a single soul here) will come to know Christ off that basis, it’s more of a rock in the shoe approach. Personal work is where the actual soul winning happens (see above, speaking in generalities). Anyone who actually responds to the gospel in repentance and believes that Christ is Messiah is saved bar none. That seed has taken hold and will grow and Christ will become Lord over all areas of their life as they grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, while they work out their salvation (Service not soteriology) with the Holy Spirit as guide. I’ve never seen someone walk the isle a sinner and go out the back door fully conformed to the image and likeness of Christ, which often appears to be the expectation of those that knee jerkedly become “Lordship Salvation” guys mid way through their ministry when they realize their entire congregation is a social club and not a church. Previously I used the term false dichotomy and I’m sure you’re like “I literally see easy believism occurring” I agree, I just don’t consider those converts at all, any more than I do works salvation folks. That gets into mental assent and actual belief. I see the whole thing as 2 unnecessary positions which are cleared up by reading and presenting the gospel in a manner consistent with our calling and discipling those folks and encouraging them to grow. Honestly if the loudest voices I. Christianity would stop writing books we would be much better off. That time would be much better spent and wouldn’t stumble young Christians or politicize the matter to the point where we don’t really speak the language of the English Bible but rather argue on the basis of this or that theologian. It’s the Word of God, even in its cleanest most concise form (the KJV) it’s like a 6th grade reading level. We needs more time chewing less time swallowing so to speak. Hope this clears up my position, I purposefully threw some bait in my previous comment for the sake of conversation, forgive me if it’s annoyed you.

I am sad to hear John on this topic. I assume he is a good teacher and just ignorant of the actual arguments surrounding what we call free Grace. The book of James has nothing to do with salvation from hell. The book itself is written to believers, and it has to do with salvation from Temporal consequences of sin in the life of a believer. Matthew 7:21 has to do with false prophets, and again has nothing to do with personal salvation. if it did, then you’d have to account for why Jesus is promoting a works based gospel that is clearly in conflict with the gospel that Paul presents. also, why no mention of the gospel of John It never uses the word repent in the entire book. The gospel of John is the only book that expressly says it was written to unbelievers so they can believe and have eternal life. can we read John 3:16 and take it at face value? It sites a singular condition of belief. The doctrine of Lordship salvation is too inconsistent and logically unsound.

It absolutely does. It is the Spirit of God who works in us for our being born again (John 3) and for our sanctification. Everyone who is legitimately a child of God will automatically recognize the Lordship of Christ because the Spirit draws us to acknowledge who Jesus is. But you are welcome to go on teaching what is not true, making your disciples who do not bend the knee to Jesus but claim His blood for themselves.@@markfletcher2797
