What is Low E and Argon Gas?
Most people have a single piece of clear glass separating you and the weather outside. Low E is a metallic coating on the glass that repels 95% of all UV rays. Argon Gas helps keep the warmth inside and also keep the house nice and quit reducing the amount of noise outside.
If you want to replace your old single glass windows with some new high performance Low E and Argon Gas windows make sure you visit americanwindow...

Triple silver LowE coatings will block up to 95% of UV light from entering the home. This is great if you want to help prevent fading in the home, but that number doesn't mean much of anything if discussing energy performance. If energy performance matters to someone then the discussion has to be about U-factor (or U-value) and SHGC or Solar Heat Gain Coefficient. LowE coatings affect both SHGC and U-factor performance of the IGU. Adding a LowE coating to a dual pane window improves U-factor performance to the level of an uncoated triple pane (or better) and introduces significant performance improvement to SHGC. Argon is used to enhance the insulating performance of an IGU. Argon slows both convective and conductive heat loss or heat gain through the glass. Doesn't matter if it's keeping warm air inside during the winter or keeping warm air outside during the summer. Argon does little or nothing to improve window sound performance. It is a somewhat common misconception that it has sound performance value, but it doesn't.

It is amazing isn't it, how on RU-vid these people state with authority absolute nonsense. Like the presenter saying that argon will keep heat inside the house but not outside the house. Also acoustic properties which depend on phonon transmission not convection. A denser gas should actually more transmission to sound. Convection probably depends on mean velocity at a given temp of individual gas molecules. Any way I replied to you because I am thinking of replacing a busted vinyl window with a wooden picture window. With 3 panes. The middle pane would be a stained glass with one of the Frank Lloyd Wright patterns. With a little injection port from the side where air can be purged with argon periodically. What do you think? Any suggestions?

@@suryamitra7397 Given an option, I would prefer the artglass panel as a separate interior pane rather than between lites of an IGU. I would prefer a sealed dual pane to the exterior of the panel. And while I am not a huge fan of stained glass inside an IG unit, I do realize that it's by far the most common make up.

Nice video. Always wondered why argon was in my large front sliding doors. Now I know!

How do I refill the gas again? The propane shop laughed when I pulled up with the window.

If the Argon gas is gone, than it’s safe to say you have a seal failure and need a replacement glass unit. You’ll know this because of the moisture fog between the panes that never goes away. No gas/propane station will have the correct gas for you. Sorry.

Argon in an IGU is a sales tactic. It's only efficient at sea level. And it looses its minor benefits after 3 years. Soft coat lowE is the most economical.

Argon gas is a soundproff? Or the thicknesses of the glass on the IG units OV.?

Are you sure sir about the features of Aragon gas cuz I been told its to block UV heat so that why it used in anti helicopters missiles like stinger missile

Damn these windows are EXPENSIVE! Im getting quoted $1200 to $1600 for one standard size window for low e/argon in southern california. Is this typical?!

The low -e coating is always on the 2nd or 3rd surface. Never on the first or fourth.
@americanwindowconcepts5510

Who stated it was ever on the 1st or 4th surface? That would rust immediately!
@DANMOTYL
@DANMOTYL 2 года назад
@@americanwindowconcepts5510 at .54 seconds you tap the outboard light and say this is where the low-e coating is. Also. .. silver doesn't rust. . Iron rusts. Silver oxidizes. Also... in southern states. The low-E is on the 3rd surface.

Two things. Maybe change the video and show a good caulking job. It looks like he has Parkinson's (not to sound mean but no other way to explain) and secondly when you say argon has a sound property, maybe erase that part too as argon has no sound saving properties at all . Sorry

Thank you! I'm like, "nooooo, Argon doesn't buffer sound as well as a solid." I'm not sorry, it's science.

Is there a way to test if your windows are LowE or have Argon gas? If we get new windows is there a way to confirm if they actually installed LowE with Argon?
@americanwindowconcepts5510
@americanwindowconcepts5510 2 года назад
When you get new windows, keep the the NFRC sticker that is on each and every window. It shows the SHGC, U Factor, Visible Light Transmittance, and Condensation Resistance. This is absolutely true and accurate for each specific window, and if is found to be a lie, the manufacturer would be in serious trouble.

why do products in the market have air and argon mix? why not use pure Argon to fill in the window?

The windows I use have a flood fill amount of at least 95%. The goal is for as much as possible.

@@americanwindowconcepts5510 Well considering you can't get any more then the 90%. Nothing higher then that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uoM9SlO0ZJM.html at 5 : 54. Nice try though.

Good point actually. Very high reflective LowE can burn artificial turf. I usually use very strong LowE on second and third levels of homes, or when a pool is close to the home.

Funny you guys want to keep heat out, e coating outside, here it's the opposite, we want to keep heat in, e coating on the inside.

It is all relative to location of the house within this planet. Very true.
