View more at www.MathAndScience.com. In this lesson, you will learn how to calculate and compare the mean, median, and mode of a data set in statistics. We learn that the mean is used when there are no outliers in the data, and we often use the median when we know there are outliers in the data. We use the mode when the data is non-numerical in nature. We will construct a line plot of the data to help us visualize how the mean, median, and mode compare with one another.

Hi, I enjoy this video more because you combined all three terms together. I can understand the differences more easily. Just a question, what is the significant of a mode when the similar numbers are in either high or low end side?

What will be the mode if all the values have the same frequency (say 2)?
@antisocialbarbie1587

But sir.. if the highest number can't that be a mode if it doesn't occur the most

An interesting thing to note here is that these data measures doesn't have units.
@soap3044

The measured unit here is the natural number itself, isn't it?
@hemarajue2736
@hemarajue2736 2 года назад
@@soap3044 It could be a real number. Since these data doesn't represent an exact value, unit is not so important I think.
@soap3044
@soap3044 2 года назад
@@hemarajue2736 The data consist of natural numbers. Real number is too broad for this, because rational number would be enough for counting numbers of students in a class, their test scores, or homework problems, and for evaluating those numbers. And I think unit is important for mathematics, because without it, mathematics can't tell you anything.

@@soap3044 yes it's a natural number. Suppose someone ask you how many marks you got in maths. You say 60 or 70 like that. You won't say 50.5 or 69.8.
