Whistling, utensils hitting the plate in a restaurant, dishes clashing while washing them, rattling of chip bags, etc. It makes me angry! It's like everything is amplified. High pitch sounds. I have extremely overactive amygdalas. Panic disorder, GAD, OCD, and Post Trama disorder for which I've been treated for decades( on and off )

Oh god whistling! I can tolerate it for a minute. We had a customer at my bookstore who would stay for hours and whistle (badly too) the entire time. I wanted to push a full shelf of encyclopedias over on top of him! 🤯

Whistling is the worst! I can't stand it for a second and even a few moments of it can trigger a migraine for me.

I would love to be part of research! So many years I thought I was the only weirdo to suffer from this anxiety/anger producing fireworks!

The coping mechanism is to live in a sound proof house in the middle of a desert.

Or other people could learn some manners and be quieter. Not everyone has misophonia, but the vast majority of people dislike the same sounds to a degree.

I realized that that is the final solution and it's the only motivation to earn more money, to buy a house without neighbours on my own property. No joke.

The type of noises include chewing, lip smacking, swallowing, etc. About 20% of the people suffer it and there's little help available yet for those with misophonia.

Interesting talk yes but there are some things you need to look at. The speaking through nose and also during conversation the frog like voice develops. There is also a point in conversation, " what we know physiologically (4:51-53 BLEEP SOUND) and again "...the best way to categorise it, (5:40-41 BLEEP) again at 06:08 This would be very annoying for someone who suffers from Misophonia , maybe it can be removed?

Marcelon Jean Rammedeus I wasn't annoyed until you mentioned it. Now I want to strangle whoever left that in.

I know this was two uears ago but you arw spot on! Ibwas going to advise the same thing. I even thought maybe they wanted to see how mamy people got teiggered by that. There is hypnosis and Im going to try that. There are no coping mechanisms - just blocking out the noise. My new neighbors put up these bamboo windchimes and eveeytime I hear them I want to go rip them down or move. Im too humiliated to ask them to take them down and my hisband has never been much help for me.

Sound can also bring instant comfort as well. Perhaps it's a form of synesthesia? Sounds are sounds plus a limbic tickle one way or the other. Leaf blowers were invented strictly to torture me .... I am autistic as well.

I have this, in addition to mouth sounds deep bass music makes me want to kill, but I never see it mentioned online. Do I also have hyperacusis, or do other miso sufferers also hate loud bass?

Oh my gosh. THANK YOU for mentioning this. While I'm glad to see a medical name for this condition, I'm so frustrated at misophonia being "taken over" by people who hate the sound of other people EATING. Yes, I realize that's an issue but eating is a quick, PASSING event. Meanwhile neighbors play their stereos (& 50" TVs with surround sound) SEVEN DAYS/week. I literally cannot live around constant media bass noises.
@admerin6961
@admerin6961 3 года назад
@@rheeryder2524 I am the same. I am not sure if it helps, but look up hyperacusis. The Bass sounds are MUCH worse, louder and inescapable. It is drawn out torture that provokes much stronger emotions and rage whereas eating sounds are easier to avoid.

I cannot tolerate hearing the loud bass tones invading my home from two houses away across the street! How to tell them to please lower the bass on their equalizer, please please.

I don't have it but I'd much prefer to just be deaf. Deaf people don't suffer as much.

I feel that a lot of people who handle audio need to learn about misophonia tool, not to mention engineers who make microphones. I mean it's ironic that the sound of the good Doctor has so much sibilance that it triggers my Misophonia :D I can't listen to this conversation, sorry.

What if I can't tolerate any sudden unexpected sounds or movements? Not just chewing or clicking? What is that called? Also, what kind of disorder is it if I cannot tolerate interruptions? Not just of sound but of movement too, like things flying in front of me or moving by too. My brain can't filter them out. They cut the chord in my mind especially if I'm in the middle of a thought, and I can't recover from it without exerting effort to erase the sound or interruption from my brain. What is that called? I can't find it on Google. The worst sound is the phone ringing. How does anyone tolerate that? I wanna strangle the man who invented that sound. Do any of you have trouble tolerating that sound too?

Ironic that, while explaining about a disorder that targets provacative sounds you chose you leave the IM sounds in the video lol. It didn't annoy me too much, just thought it was funny.
