Thank you, Dr Creswell, for a very insightful look into what mixed method research is. This video has greatly reduced my time in reading and trying to understand what MMR is. I wasn't sure how to go about my methodology but you have given me the confidence to go ahead with my idea. Thank you again for making this video.
Thank you, Dr Creswell, for this concise unpacking of the mixed methods research design. It has helped provide the clarity I needed to make progress with my MSc dissertation.
My professor introduced me to a book you have written on the types of research designs, It is so clear and very understandable and most importantly, very helpful and I passed my research methodology module , I never knew I would see your face so soon. Thank you for sharing your wisdom on these designs and this is the reason we should not fear when a thesis or dissertation is concerned at any level of academics. Thank you Dr Creswell , Love from Namibia
I love the example of Battier's basketball playing using qualitative data to give a fuller picture of his performance why his teams were winning. So cool.
Thank you Dr.Creswell. very easy to get concepts when u interact. kindly highlight on framing research question in case of mm research some examples too
I HAVE INCURRED SO MUCH LOSSES TRADING ON MY OWN...I TRADE WELL ON DEMO BUT I THINK THE REAL MARKET IS MANIPULATED... CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT OR AT LEAST TELL ME WHAT I'M DOING WRONG ?
I strongly advise you against self trading, it's really dangerous and had brought so many investors down, you need someone with the knowledge and strategies, someone dedicated to the crypto currency market business, and I will strongly recommend expert, Mrs Karen Charles
This is absolutely brilliant. Watching this video opened my mind so much and made it easier to understand better the mixed method approach and designs.
you all prolly dont care but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Finley Jabari thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You make things clear for us thank you Professor.I have a question when you do an experiment and conduct a survey then follwed by semi-structured interview, do de call it mixed method research ?
A very clear presentation, thanks. Only one thing still bothers me in mixed methods - epistemology: how to explain a combination of positivism and constructionism in one project. those are two competing epistemological paradigms.
hi Dr. Creswell, I have been reading on the number of interviews are needed in qualitative data, yet authors do not give a direct answer. is there a percentage for the interviews? Say 10% of the target population ?
This is a terrific video and helped so much. I'm curious how you would categorize a (self-proclaimed) mixed method study, which includes approximately ten quantitative questions, and only one qualitative one. If the qualitative question is open-ended and in-depth - would it be enough to be considered rigorous on its own?
This is a very informative introduction to Mixed Methodology. I plan to have my doctoral students view it during my Qualitative Methods class at Fresno State in conjunction with selections from Creswell's text.
Sir, I have 5 objectives. For 3 objectives, I am using quantitative analysis. For 2 objectives, I am using qualitative analysis. Is that a multi-method or a mixed method?
I will go out on a limb and say that exploratory sequential is not really triangulation. That's because the purpose of the first phase is really to inform the second phase (and the same goes for explanatory sequential) . The convergent mixed methods design seems most consistent with triangulation to me - both phases are being used to look at the same research question - with the intention to compare and contrast from each - so that sounds most like triangulation to me.
Thank you Dr Creswell. I have one question if you can answer please. I am currently organising a research project that has 2 questions which can be quantitative and qualitative. The only thing is my survey can be both as I will have open ended questions as well. My second question is more of a Participant Observation games room as I wan the participants to tell me how they felt before the activity and how they felt after. I take it that this won't be mixed method as it's 2 questions but multi method? Kind Regards Anna
Quantitative data alone is not enough to understand a social problem. Qualitative data can really explain the real cause of the social problem. Example: John got bad grades because he was in a very negative learning environment. Is there a relationship between academic achievement and the learning environment?
Transcript? Deaf and hearing impaired inquirers would appreciate it, not to mention students who want to draw quotes from this presentation without watching the whole video repeatedly.
