You are such a great teacher/communicator! I've become interested in the traditional cleaners like vinegar, soda crystals etc etc but have had no idea how they work, and consequently found it hard to know which to choose for particular contexts. Your Understanding Cleaning Chemicals series is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks so much!

When he says the soil is not like the soil outside you plant stuff in. He is kind of wrong. That is what it is. Another word would be dirt. Food waste, dust from dead skin cells is carbon-based compost (part of dirt/soil), sand you track in from outside are minerals (part of dirt), bodily waste is where dirt gets it's black/brown colour from (trillions of bacteria breaking down food-waste in to dirt).

Does vingar & baking soda counteract each other when used as a mold killer? Would mold killer work after using vinegar?
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 2 года назад
Yes they cancel each other out. If you want to kill mold like in a shower you can try just plain vinegar. You could also use Tilex Mold and Mildew Remover. It can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc.

Do you recommend any books that offer the scientific approach behind cleaning?

Thank you for that disclaimer! My mom has really bad OCD and in a cleaning frenzy she mixed cleaners together and in her ignorance created a dangerous gas. I was a child and had to call 911. She wound up in the hospital and almost died. A very traumatic memory that stuck with me my entire life and I don't know what she mixed but I have been worried about mixing things ever since. The dangers from mixing cleaners and household chemicals cannot be understated. Thank you!

I’m a bit confused if mold is organic soil and alkaline cleaners should be used why is vinegar effective at cleaning it off of walls per say? As far as hard water buildup goes i’ve been recommended to clean my crystal glasses with baking soda… please elaborate If acids are used only on inorganic matter why do in laundry recommend to soak sweaty clothes in vinegar if sweat is protein, shouldn’t a basic (alkaline) be used to treat it not an acid? I’m very much puzzled and perplexed. Also i’d love if you could make a video elaborating on types of stains like tannin and protein and inorganic. Thank you for your content as always

I’ve always used toilet bowl cleaner gel with Clorox powder overtop. Not sure why..my mom taught me that way I guess? It seems to work better than just one or the other and makes the gel stick. Do you know why that would be?🤔

I have never done that so I couldn't tell you. Just be careful mixing chemicals together. It's like playing with fire.

What if one mix sulphonic acid with hypochlorite
@CleanWithConfidence

I wouldn't recommend mixing any chemicals unless you're a chemist and know what you doing.

@@CleanWithConfidence I am in a small factory where we make a surfactant for washing clothes and there is a phase where we mix hydrochlorite with sulphonic acid

@@huzifaborhan1799 oh ok gotcha. That's awesome! Well in all honesty, I would still probably ask a chemist. I know alot about chemicals but I'm not a chemist by any means.
