Thanks for this nice presentation. Do you have any advanced explanation for PMD? My understanding is that the orthogonality may also lost due to birefringence. Any explanation?
@@sunnyboy866 Consider PMD-compensated fiber. It is specifically designed to mitigate polarization mode dispersion, a phenomenon caused by variations in the propagation speeds of orthogonal polarization states in optical fibers. The fiber is not perfectly round; it has an ovality that causes PMD. Look at what Corning does to correct it: it creates ovals in the fiber that are perpendicular to each other longitudinally.
