What is post-structuralism?
Post-structuralism refers to the intellectual developments in philosophy and critical theory that were the results of 20th-century French philosophy.
The prefix "post" refers to the fact that many of its contributors such as Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, and Julia Kristeva were former structuralists who, after abandoning structuralism, became critical of it.
In contrast to structuralism's claims of culturally independent meaning, post-structuralists view culture as inseparable from meaning.
In this video, we will discuss what post-structuralism is, its history, key ideas, and criticisms.

Love it so much already . keep up the good work. i personally prefer your videos that touches upon primarily Sociological topics to a lesser extent philosophical . i would be extremely excited to see videos that focuses upon the most famous sociological figures ideas for examples.

The idea of metalanguage was not proposed by Barthes, it was already used in philosophy of logic by Tarski, da Costa, Putnam, Black and others... rather it was reinterpreted by Barthes. Also, the criticism of self-contradiction criticism is a bad one, I suppose (as an analytic philosopher myself). The post-steucturalist, I imagine, would welcome the conclusion instead of be hurt by it as the logical positivist was hurt by the criticism against the verificationist principle. Anyway, nice video. I learned a lot.

Post structuralist always try to establish multiple meaning and rejects that there is a single meaning for a word, then how is it possible that post-structuralist accept many meaning to a single word, if that so Post structutalist are only the critics of single meaning and not the proposer for multiple meaning Am i right??
