Ruth suppose we have 100 users and 2 developers then if I have 1 PPU liscence how do I share, do I need : 1) like earlier all have Pro 2) with out pro 3) all 100 +2 will need PPU liscence
Hi Anand, If you don't need any of the premium features then continue with Pro. If everyone needs the premium features then PPU or a mix. It all depends on what features you need for each user.
We are planning to have two separate premium capacity nodes in our project, one for Dev and Testing and another is for production, Can you please let me know what impact this may have on deployment pipeline ? Can we configure a pipeline to talk to two different nodes?
5:00 think of PPU as separate capacity from PPC. That’s why they don’t allow PPC User to see PPU content. They probably figure if you can afford PPC you wouldn’t need any PPU and if you did it would be maybe for some larger datasets for a few users.
Curbal I may see your point. If you’re paying for capacity, if you overload it with extra PPC users that only puts extra load on resources on your resources in your capacity.
You mean extra ppu users? My understanding is that ppu users will be on a different capacity that ppc users as microsoft will manage them but I could be wrong
I get what you mean on the "Why Premium Per Capacity user cannot see Premium Per User". Frankly I also find it a bit wrong because "Premium should be able to see Premium" BUT... after reading the PPC licence in detail, I think there is a good reason why. Because PPC license is only to let others (even unlicensed users) to view the content you publish, yet it does not grant you the rights to see any content other than a PPC published workspace. In short, if you have a PPC licence only and want to view other/external workspaces, you're as good as an unlicensed user. I think the "Premium" wording makes it rather misleading and sad to say Microsoft doesn't need to make sense. They just need to make money :)
I see what you say, still PPC user can access more premium features or same (as the PPC license has no restrictions) than a PPU user, still it can not see PPU content. So a higher tier can not access content from a lower tier... Never seen that before.
In any case I think that's where Microsoft has a sly strategy here because you cannot have all the powers with just one licence. If I understand all correctly, you need PPC + Pro or PPC + PPU to be able to do everything and that's cash, cash, cash :)
Yes yes! PPU (or even the Pro licence) is probably good for most cases but I guess for extreme cases where you want to view external workspaces and let others view your workspace without paying licence, then PPC + PPU or Pro. To me or maybe even my big bosses, PPC or PPU is probably a luxury and a waste. Pro licence seems to be just fine as well :)
