Welcome to the Phase 2 FINALE! As has been SUPER highly requested, I've got a True Power Tournament video series planned in which these trainers will battle it out to determine who is the strongest using their best possible teams. The thing is, I'm going to need a partner of equal battling skill to work with me on this to help with the planning and actual battles/recordings. Here is where you guys come in; since they'll be putting in many, many hours of work into this project, I do want to compensate them financially. Since I currently support myself & my family, I would be unable to do so without some further help. If you guys find yourselves wanting this Tournament series to happen and are excited for it, I would love if you would consider making a pledge on Patreon to help with the project. I will be regularly posting updates and sneak peeks about the project on Patreon, in addition to the other exclusive perks that all Patrons get that are listed on the page. Many thanks and hoping we can make it happen! ➡️ www.patreon.com/SilphSpectre ⬅️
I'd very much like to see a tournament. Would you be using a different format than the main games to do it in order to make each team accurate to their levels presented in the series, or will you be going to easier route of just using the games and having them all set to level 50?
KSound Kaiju around the same. Stress and constant pressure takes its toll and can make you look older than you actually are. Government positions are such stress and constant pressure.
Wonderfully done, especially considering the lack of info available in the main series games you found great justification for the liberties you did take in reaching beyond them. Obviously I love seeing their best teams, but you dive into the lore of the characters in such a succinct but detailed way it's really my main draw! Wonderful content 🤙🏻
Thanks so much Michael! These are super kind words and I'm so glad you're enjoying the content. The lore I feel is really important - in order to understand these trainers' true power, it's necessary to look at their experience and personality traits too, not just their Pokemon themselves :D
I believe it will be: 1. Gyarados: UUBL: lv70 2. Venusaur: UUBL: lv69 3. Arcanine: UU: lv68 4. Mew: UU: ~lv65 5. Nidoking (Evolved Nidorino): UU: ~lv65 6. Tauros: PU: lv 66 I was thinking about type coverage more, which is why I’m leaving out the other two starters, & Exeggutor is okay & adds the psychic typing, but it is not quite as good as the others.
I was a little off. I didn’t think he would use Anime teams, gen 7 tiers instead of gen 8, or that he wouldn’t evolve Nidorino. Regardless, I got 4 of the team members right, so that’s good for me lol
Wasn't Oak shown as a kid in the 4th movie where he befriended Celebi. He had that old type of pokeball... don't remember if he caught it or pulled an Ash and just played with it
That was awesome and the most imaginative episode of all the series, nice using manga/anime as refs. And I know, Gen 3 is next but I can't deny I would love to see what is Ethan/Gold's best possible team. Based on manga, anime special with Typhlosion/Raikou (also that time when he used a Donphan against Ash lol beggining of a movie from gen 4) and starters/events of the game. I love your work Silph! Greetings from South America.
I expect a light themed video and probably some of his Pokemon roster from games. I get biography of Pr. Oak instead.. This is really deep.. You'll be big someday man.
I love videos like this, in my spare time I often make teams inspired by different key characters in the franchise, and I am finally able to dedicate one to Samuel Oak.
Oh baby I was waiting for this one! I actually forgot he had Dragonite so when the anime scene appeared, it got me pretty hype since it's my favourite Pseudo Legendary :P
I don’t think dragonite should have been included. It’s an anime only Pokémon and none of the other trainers with anime only Pokémon were included so why shoulda dragonite
Great video! Expected nothing less than quality content as usual! I would request Professor Elm too but besides have no pokemon, I know his battling skills are just as good as his skills of preventing his lab from being robbed by a 10-year-old. 😂 Once again, thank you for making my day.
They also use brother, sister grampa, uncle, and aunt in this way as well, although the informal way of saying brother/sister(aneki/anego) implies some sort of relationship
I was seriously not expecting this given the lack of info we have on Oak’s past but you managed to pull through and it was a great episode! Drake would be a great option next
Let me tell you: When I was in college I met Agatha, we married and had had little daughter, about 10 years later she had 2 kids, named Gary, after that everthing went downhill, Aghata left me and my little daughter died in a car crash, the rest was all explained very good, props to him
My only complaint with the series is that when you include Pokemon from Pokemon Masters, you say "we don't know the moveset", when the Pokemon in Masters all use existing main series moves, so you at least have a few to go off like Silver's Ho-oh knowing Sacred Fire, Overheat, and Solar Beam and Oak's Mew having Swift, Psychic, and possibly two of Fire Blast, Thunder, or Blizzard. But besides that fantastic work on the videos and please keep them coming.
True. But, even if you consider Masters’s moveset, it wouldn’t be that great. Like, Ho-oh in the Main Series with that moveset is a complete wash. Especially when Primal Kyogre 1v1s it without Brave Bird.
Assuming Gary Oak is the same age as Ash (10), that would mean Oak was 37 when he became Gary's granddad (which means him and/or his son/Gary's dad had kids before 20). And the amount of "decades" Agatha meant would have to be 2 (or maybe 3)
I think it’s really cool how Oak’s non-starter type triangle (Gyarados, Arcanine, and Exeggutor) were used by Blue when he became a gym leader. I always thought that was a subtle reference to Oak’s hidden team.
in ash's reality I guess. Mew ,two of ash's Tourus, Evee all because of the let's go pikachu shize with ash, Alolan Ninetales that he got as an egg from Samson and his Dragonite that fought mirage mewtwo
Look I know the point is to go off of the main series teams but I do like the idea of looking at the anime for at least some honorable mentions. Provides a few more options to characters who've appeared like once or twice
Oak's lore is some of the best stuff in pokemon and it's why I love Generation 1 so much. Whether confirmed or uncomfirmed Oak was definitely a Champion and I like to think the battle we see between that Gengar and Nidorino may have been a glimpse into the battle that made him Champion so long ago.
Since Giovanni was a decent bit ago, and I know this guy also has something in his bag of tricks, I want to know: what is team aqua leader Archie's true power?
You forgot one of Professor Oak's best pokemon. In "The tale of two Professors" from Pokemon Go, Oak received a group of Meltan that became a Melmetal.
9:03 I was soo hoping that he would mention that. 1st time I ever watched that movie, I COMPLETELY freaked out in excitement! I'm kinda ashamed to say> the main reason for clicking this video was to see if Professor Oak's Dragonite would be properly mentioned and acknowledged or not!! Not many pokemon fans I know even know about this movies' existence because it's not in the list of mainstream pokemon movies!
Just to confirm something. In the original anime intro and video games. Wasnt it oak and Agatha that we saw battling in the championship with a nidorino (oak) and a gengar (agatha)?
Unfortunately they're only so high up due to the fact that Sw/Sh only have 540/898 Pokémon. For the sake of accuracy I use National Dex metagame tiers instead. Hope that clears things up!
I think a really cool oak team would have be if he had his dragonite, mew and the rest focused on Pokémon that evolved by evolutionary stones Mew, Dragonite, Nidoking, Poliwrath, exeggutor and arcanine
It actually kinda makes sense why Agatha would hate Oak after he retired because if he was the Champion and he just retired it would me he left the Champion seat empty for maybe decades because no one could move up because he refused to battle them.
