9 out of 10 on the Adverse Childhood Experiences and have started therapy with a Internal Family Systems therapy therapist. I have only been 2 times and feel like I have healed more than any other therapy. I held my Self and sincerely apologized to my Self and yesterday I said goodbye to my People Pleaser and thanked it for it's service. Grief is important. Knowing how you grieve is important. Most importantly my therapist has no agenda.

Psychological scars is damage to a person's mind as a result of one or more events that cause overwhelming amounts of stress that exceed the person's ability to cope or integrate the emotions involved, eventually leading to serious, long-term negative consequences.Trauma is not the same as mental distress. Worrying about a loved one isolating themselves did not vibe well with the pandemic... There is one important thing you did not really cover here. What if the traumatizing situation is still on-going? I don't mean just abuse in a relationship, although that is the most obvious case. This could also mean taking care of a disabled child or parent. Or even a "disabled" house or apartment, if you cannot afford to move! There is a risk here that the well-meaning therapy might actually make things worse for the patient, if the interventions are felt to be a push toward putting your suffering self to the side and just giving you tools to continue enduring the situation. When you speak of repressed memories toward the end of the video, it sounds a lot like dissociation. That too should be discussed more. Finally, Dr. Peter Levine's somatic experiencing is a really good tool for reconnecting with aspects of your self, when trauma has severed those connections. Anyone suffering from trauma should look it up.
