Hi Peter, good day. I have a question for you, I hope you can help me a bit. It is about lower control arm bushing (silent block) on my corolla verso '02. I diagnosed bad bushing, thus I replaced it ( I have tool for that job, not a single problem during replacement) but I'm wondering about: In original, before replacement, silent block was about half way down, when you take control arm and look overside. I thought this was a mistake of someone before me, so I push it all the way. This is bad, most probably, but I wanted to check with you. Do I have to push it back, so that it stand in the middle of control arm, and, after all, are there perhaps factory dimensions, when it comes to bushing position? Thanks in advance, all the best.
Hi there, I replaced mine. Both of them in fact. You need special tool for that, once you have it it is not a big deal. Take a look here, there is video as well: www.autoalati.rs/specijalni-alati/vesanje/master-set-za-silen-blokove?sku=4M-125 . One "cup" goes around bushing, and for another cup you choose right dimension so it is similar diameter as bushing itself. Once selected, you put that large screw rod through everything and start to squeeze. Smaller cup will push bushing into larger one, driving it out of fork. This part is relativelly easy. What is hard is to position the new bushing right, so that its edge is equally distanced from the fork. After some trials I made it almost perfect, difference was about 0.5mm. It has been a while since I did this, no probs what so ever so I consider this imperfection tolerant enough. You can, of course, replace whole fork, but it is expensive here where I live. Cheers, and good luck
Have fun fixing that🤣you only need to buy a lift ,special tools ,parts and a pressurized machine to push the parts together adjust the alignment and enough experience to do it all perfectly assuming you don’t mess up cause if you do your back at square one or way worse your best bet go to the manufacturer pay whatever it costs let it be their problem otherwise if you mess up you are so screwed well good luck 🤣
