Been hearing a lot about this game, but haven't cared to watch anyone's videos on it until yours. Seems like it has some great potential! I love the idea of community servers based on a fanbase. Hopefully they can bring the game to a nice polish!

Wow that is an amazing review, I too have no patience for Survival games, but you have really given me a real interest in playing this game.

Really nice video Fevir, you are for sure and by far my favourite youtuber when it comes to games. You make very structured talking talking up alot of stuff that a new player for example would like to know and you make it sound interesting. I never looked at this game but I Think I have Heard about it, and now after watching this video I am getting kinda hyped. We have to see how it turns out like any other in-development game but so far it looks reaally solid. Keep up the awesome work man! :)

What sucks with the specialization is that it gets old really fast. In ECO for example, you HAVE to specialize and do only 1 thing : woodcutting, smithing, building... So what happens is that you end up woodcutting for hours, without being able to do anything else. It's so frustrating that there are more than 20 different skills and you can only use the one you specialize in. That's not fun. Spending 30 days cutting wood or mining, to give the resources to other players and being able to progress... I get the idea, it's an interesting one, but in reality it's boring as hell

The only survival game (besides minecraft, which was my first and which quickly got boring) I've ever enjoyed is subnautica. This because it's genuinly terrifying and actually has a story with an ending.

i don't know if i missed it but how long does a match last and does your character reset at the end of every match?

I have b been playing Conan since near launch on PS4. I never knew I needed survival games in my life. I love it. Rend looks so beautiful and with so many new ideas it could be a real homerun and even change the genre forever. Given I don't know a great deal about these games assist from the research and hundreds of hours I have put in already. I can tell from what you are saying that those new team mechanics and having s goal might solve a lot of problems like you say. Out seems so obvious and simple that it's one of those things that you say" why didn't I think other". Sometimes the simple ideas are often the best. The fact such simple ideas solve big problems and on a way that is just so elegant really shows the pedigree of developers they have working on this. I am so hyped that off they had it available to purchase today, you would see a cloud of dust where I was just sitting. As I would be in the car and on my way to my LGS to give them my money. This game looks so beautiful. I mean really beautiful. That hag me sold right there. Silly I know but that combined with the devs and the ideas and mechanics you are sharing with me I can trek you right now. I will be playing this game of it every comes to console. If I can get better in time I will be building a fantastic PC just for this game so I can Max out the settings. Please bring this to PS4 as quick as you can if you ever read this devs. This is one the most beautiful games I have seen in all my decades of gaming.

Wow. This sounds amazing. Spot on re: old mmo vibe. the experience of everyone working with a faction to hit mid and endgame goals sounds so reminiscent of golden era MMORPGs

A year later I've returned to this video, after searching my history for an hour for it. I have a snapchat sticker of the subtitle line "now, jim fucks" that i use frequently. Im happy I found the source of probably one of my favorite youtube quotes.

This video made me look at the game I've been playing for the last hour or two a lot differently. Thanks for making it. Rend is interesting, so far, and somewhat fun. It could really use better tutorials and a UI overhaul, but overall I'm enjoying it.

Do I have to build up my character stats again after the game ends? Are there rewards after playing through a match for a month? EDIT: ok nvm. Bonus stuff and cosmetics. gotcha

This just might bring me back into survival games.

This is all great but the faction cap of 20 is just too low. What am I supposed to do if I try to log in one night and my server is full? My friends are in, I am not, what do you do? It's just too low, and this is to me where ALL survival games except of Rust failed. I understand the limitations, but unfortunately unless it's a quick ,atch kind of game where you switch servers often (Battlefield, Counterstrike), Conan, Ark and now this all have that problem. Either a server is half empty, or the numbers are odd forcing players out or having uneven numbers, and with a cap of 20 uneven concurrent players matter a lot. Is there a mechanic that I am missing to prevent this?

This game sounds really interesting! But the combat system seems kind of lackluster from the footage you sent me. Its not really only kiting back slow enemys with a bow right?

So after a match, is your character set back to zero? Do you loose all your levels?

And it's only in alpha. I can only imagine how much more beautiful this game is gonna get. I haven't been this excited for an MMORPG type game in a long time.

Holy shit this looks dope. My friends and I played a lot of ark, like we dedicated our summer to grinding up as hard as we could. We got pretty far and then were decimated by the mega clan of the server we joined when they decided we had become too powerful. My point is that having a survival game with an end point is so critical, otherwise you end up with overpowered players who might not be more skilled than you, but started earlier then you.

Nice video, game seems different, never heard of it until now. I think gameplay is very important over all the graphics and other stuff companies overemphasize, if its not fun long term its not gonna survive.

Alright man you sold me on this one will be looking out for it, now if they handle the release from early access in a good way then we know they care. This will be a good game nice balance of the pvpve, my only question is do the skills you learn carry over from a match to the next

The sound is amazing, art style is beautiful and for an early access titel it runs so smooth, I have only a Geforce 970 and get almost 60 FPS. I think this is one of the best early access titel in years, Subnautica is the other one!

From what i can see of the map I think the base at the top of the Triangle gets an advantage due to location. If Dreadveil and SkarSyre both have unique resources the bottom two bases can't harvest without encroaching dangerously close to the other base where the top faction can get both AND set up a straight defensive line to separate the whole top half of the map so they could eliminate threats long before they got to the base

I had a hard time getting into the game during alpha and I normally love survival games. Not sure if I will buy it today but will keep an eye on it.

Most - if not all - of the combat I’ve seen from Rend seems to be just...ranged kiting. Is there no melee at all or is it just not viable?

Looking nice. I guess I'll give it a try in a month or 2 if reviews will still be good. I'm only afraid of this 3 faction system. I can bet that in a lot of instances it will be like in Guild Wars 2 for example when 2 factions are working together against another one if its higher in rank.

You know, kind of reminds me of a spiritual successor to old Battle.net games like Troll Tribes or Wolf pack. If they could manage to find a way to balance in a more random unpredictable environment by which i mean so you have a certain degree of structure within potential chaos so each game felt very different, and then made each faction balanced but unique enough for people to really rally behind their own faction and find some reason to hate the others the way WoW really managed to, i think this game could be something amazing.

This actually seems like a good survival game? Huh. Neat! Also, I know it's by far not essential, but do you know if there'll be mod support? Usually mods can really extend a game's life by adding more content or tweaking existing ones and what some stuff people can come up with, is genuinely awesome. I am extremely curious what this game's community could do.

Been saying the same thing for a while now: the issue with "open world crafting survival" games is that we need objectives and some kind of limit. -and- Survival games could so easily be the next generation of mmo. Still loving your stuff Fevir, thanks!

This game reminds me a bit of the old DAoC (Dark Age of Camelot) style... 3 factions fighting each other to stand supreme.... However DAoC had lots of safe zones, only the frontier zones were open PvP....... now this game..... it can/will become brutal within a week! Every zone is open for combat, so im already imagining raiding parties, solo stealthing assasins skulking about and hinder progress by killing off people who are gathering... its also full loot drop! So its quite hardcore. I've played it for 3 days now and I'm in love with it! Also with the ascension system, it makes the replayability factor very high! You can unlock persistent pets, new looks, minor non-combat upgrades. 10/10 for me.

This is what I expected Fortnite to be when it was first announced a few years back, was looking forward to it... you can guess how that ended. Glad to see someone doing this type of gameplay.

The animations in this game is 1% of what early access animations should be to keep me interested.

Looks like a standard asset flip of the trendy survival server based games that have flooded steam lately. It all began with Ark, now we got many more games that all do the same and are all within that 15-30 USD price range.

There was a game which attempted to do something similar to this a while ago. The whole FPS gathering / base-building thing was poorly handled. I believe it was the Savage franchise by S2 games. It didn't work then... I don't see it working now.

This is basically Sword Art Online 2 with a slightly different goal. Instead of climbing the tree like in SOA2, you collect a bunch of spirits.

If you want survival games with purpose you should try out Subnautica, its not multiplayer but it's an amazing game that definitely pushes the survival genre into new territory.

The snowballing in this game is insane. One faction can get extremely far ahead of the others after each reckoning.

This is one of those games where I am so glad it exists but I know I'll just never get into it.

Honestly if you can't be arsed to make sure your volume is closer to 0 db than -17 db, then I can't be arsed turning up my speakers.
