The banking system today uses slow and outdated systems in order to transfer money (i.e. value) around the world. Ripple aims to create the Internet of value called RippleNet - a set of unified rules helping the financial sector use 21st century solutions for fast and scalable transfer of money.
Ripple has two main forms of transferring value - IOUs and XRP. IOUs are representation of debt and can be issued for any type of real world asset. XRP is RippleNet’s native currency which can be used to transfer money quickly around the world.

XRP makes a lot of sense for how the old world works... but it doesn't really fit in with the world of cryptocurrencies because 1) it's centralized (it's distributed, but it's not decentralized) 2) it's not trustless or permissionless (which is the main reason why it's centralized)

That's exactly the point. This is why banks want to use it for a direct way to send money. Where do majority of people hold their money? You guessed it, the bank. It's solving a problem that 99% of these crypto currencies do not. When you really think about it most of crypto is useless and has no real world utility therefore it's worthless.

@@othxme8901 banks don't care for XRP. Some institutions are working with Ripple because they're interested in the protocol and payment network for their own CBDCs not for XRP. Also, remittance has no bearing on the price of XRP. In fact, XRP would work best as a stablecoin. Too bad many banks are going to come out with their own CBDCs, making XRP even more useless.

The longer Bitcoin exists, the more difficult it becomes to “mine,” or create new coins. Without the miners, the Bitcoin network collapses. The cost of getting started as a new miner is so far out of reach for the average person that the main miners are gigantic warehouses in China. In most countries, the cost of electricity to run these computers is actually more than what the digital currency is worth, which makes it pointless to even try.The longer Bitcoin exists, the longer it takes for these computer systems to process the information. the official time for a Bitcoin transfer is “one hour,” but anyone who uses Bitcoin on a regular basis knows that is far from the truth. Transactions can take up to six hours at busy times of the day, because it averages 15 transactions per second. There is no guarantee that it will ever improve. In fact, it is likely to keep getting worse.In contrast, Ripple’s coin XRP settles 1,500 transactions every second, and they have the technology and infrastructure to make sure that they’ll never slow down. In the digital age, where people want things to happen within a split second, it is simply not realistic to think that as the world slowly begins to understand and use blockchain in their everyday lives, they will choose the slower option, Bitcoin, over currencies that are faster.

that cost of starting to mine is not by accident.. bitcoins and crypto are the establishment's way of shaking out all the true and wannabe libertarians who have turned into the very greedy, corporate/political elite, they supposedly rail against.. the idea/premise is good but what it's turned into.. not so much.. I am constantly seeing what used to be average, solid, hard working every day people start sounding and acting all high and mighty because they got caught on the lucky end of this ridiculous, unsustainable "crypto" swing.. it will crash.. that's practically a given.. and none of them seem to want to listen and just cash out most of it and put it to work in the actual "real world"... even scarier is, almost all of them can't even come close to explaining to me what blockchain is and now it works.. think about that.. bunch of libertarian wired minds all getting hard of of something "digital" that they can't truly describe.. can't physically touch.. yeah.. as much as I hate fiat currency, at least cash is something I hold in my hand.. crypto will get taken down no matter what the flavor or doer... crypto is just as far, if nor further, than those who truly want to be more organic and have something closer to true "free market" or bartering.. when you consider that if any entity or group can grow to assume 20% or more of the mining.. GAME OVER!!

The banks will win and the future is VERY centralized. You can take that to the bank. The only think you have to figure out is which blockchains are poised and positioned to provide the infrastructure. My advice is get out of denial and move yourself through the other 4 stages of grief so you can best determine what can be done and act in the best interest of your children NOW

The question of investing is exactly like you said, based on your belief of whether it will be adopted. The good thing is, you can get it for pretty cheap right now...so even if it doesn't go up in value or become adopted, you probably aren't losing much in the first place...unless you go all in on XRP only, which isnt the greatest idea in a currently speculative market. I own some XRP but I'm buying about 10 others as well.

Thanks for giving me an outstanding first look at XRP and Ripple. I guess it's a tradeoff between high transaction speed and low trust in the central authority of Ripple Labs. I think the tech in other crypto currencies will catch up on the speed front. US banks aren't going to like the centralization feature. Neither will Chinese banks. Ripple founders should sell all their XRP before it becomes worthless!

Don't understand the part on transaction fee is destroyed. If A pays B 100 XRP, and for this transaction A pays 1 XRP of transaction fee. Then who gets this 1 XRP and when it is destroyed, the person who gets the transaction fee would have nothing? If the validators are not paid for their validating service, then what motivates them to be a validator?

In theory, it is possible that if XRP gained mass adoption as a global currency, it could potentially replace the US dollar as the world's reserve currency. However, this scenario is highly unlikely for several reasons. Overall, while XRP has the potential to disrupt traditional financial systems and gain wider adoption, it is unlikely to replace the US dollar as the world's reserve currency in the near future.

Pundi X could do a XRP like pump This is all my opinion: In 2015-2016 XRP was less then $0.01 with a max supply of 100 billion. 60% is owned by ripple the company themselves. People in the crypto world were saying that XRP could never hit 1 dollar mark or that the bankings and governments wouldn’t let XRP succeed. XRP total marketcap was around 50 million dollars. Now pundi X is less then $0.01 with a max supply of 258 billion and marketcap of 100 million. People are saying that it would never hit 1 dollar mark and that they wouldn’t succeed in becoming one of THE payment systems in the world. XRP went from less then $0.01 to over $3.00. PundiX is in my eyes THE XRP of this bullrun. I don’t say it wil go to 1 dollar but it can explode to 1-10+ cents. Any thoughts?

I bought $1000 of XRP as an investment 2 months ago and it has decreased in value to $750! Why, how does it decrease? I read it was going to be the new bank currency and it was a great investment. I tested the water with $1K. Certainly has been a disappointment.

Subscribed to this channel I like the way he explained everything , so many XRP channels over hyping XRP for years hoping the coin the go to the moon soon but will see what happens. I have 5090 XRP and will just leave it there and forget about it, thinking about investing on other alt coins like ethereum, so far the crypto market has been looking pretty bearish, bitcoin recently hitting $9600 only to fall back to $9100 currently sitting at $9270. @@stevejeffrey11 Ripple might be one day as big as Swift. But never as big as a global currency, or even the dollar. If utility is bigger than speculation, buy stake in RippleLabs. That's something I wouldn't mind having in my portfolio

@@ronallan8680 if you have 100k+ to invest it is possible to be approved to purchase stock in Ripple which is out of limits to most people. XRP is still the most logical investment in the crypto space, has a quality company with strong leadership behind it
