Boga I have a question. Does screen tearing happen if you get less fps than your monitors max?
@MartinPaprocki
@MartinPaprocki 2 года назад
It is not true that you can resolve the problem by lowering your fps. If anything it will only make the tearing more noticeable, because you will be able to look at the faulty frame for a longer time. The underlying problem is that the frame-buffer feeds the monitor frames out of sync. This can happen at any refresh rate, both higher and lower than your monitors refresh rate. The statement at 1:07 is false.
@danielberg5908
@danielberg5908 Год назад
Is it because the game it self dont lock the fps rate? And rivatuner just couse more screen tearing?
@theShadeslayer
@theShadeslayer 2 месяца назад
Yeah 1:07 was puzzling to me bc I've thought that unlocking frames above the monitor hz cap allows for smoother gameplay, and for a lot of the games I play I render frames above the hz of my monitor but I don't experience frame tearing at all

@gabrielgallo513

Older games, less quality image= +fps -----> Tearing occurs when you have more fps than the refresh rate of your monitor Newer games, more image quality= -fps --------> Stuttering occurs when you have less fps that the refresh rate of your monitor Intensity of tearing or stuttering will depends of how much difference of fps/hz you have.

but yeah if your gpu isn't strong enough vsync causes stutter if it's fall under 60fps. Sometimes it can help to use vsync (ingame) and additionally use rivatuner (or something else) to cap at 60fps. (yeah sounds weird, but it improves the frametime = less stutter) If you really can't hold 60fps even with lower graphic settings, then cap it at 45fps with vsync on. For me that looks fluid enough in most cases.

Vsync def helped my pc for emulation. I just wonder if there's a way to fix it for consoles. Race Pro for 360 has it bad, even mentioned in reviews. And a recent project cars 3 intro for ONE X was loaded with it. So it's still an ongoing issue with racing games it seems (Project Cars 3 first 12 min of gameplay) Starting 50sec in. massive tearing for entire cut scene intro. Brand spankin new. And the game itself has it during play here and there. todays preview was looking smooth though.

screen tearing happens when your GPU and your Monitor are out of sync which means your FPS are either to high or to low. it can also have something to do with frametime 60fps means 60 pictures per second but it doesnt tell u how consistent those frames are. your gpu could render 20 frames in half a second and then quickly renders the last 40 frames in the last half of the second.

I would normally put blame on the monitor before a graphics card, unless your graphics card is old. For games, why not try to lock the fps at 60fps (should be in game settings). I just bought a new laptop with 300hz screen... and I get screen tearing like crazy in games. like wtf!? I also have it plugged to a second monitor which is my TV, which is a 120 hz 4k UHD TV. The laptop is an Asus rog Strix G713 (RTX 3070, 32 GB RAM, Ryzen 7). The tearing happens on both the laptop screen and the tv as the Tv is displaying what the laptop is (duplicate). I have no idea how to fix this... and just as I thought I might jump from Console gaming to PC gaming... I get this slapped in my face... always problems with PC gaming smh!

In the settings option, for whichever game your playing, under "Video settings", there may be an option to change your framerate. Start there, if the option isn't there, it may not be available for that game.

i downloaded application which cap your fps rate cap to 60 . Interesting thing is tearing still occurs while im on 60 fps(my monitor is 60 hz).The only way fixing the issue enable vsync option but ingame when i enable in nvidia control panel it is useless.I just want to play the game without any limit no tearing or vsync etc. how can i solve this ?reseting pc or something different ?

@@vexpho4512 you can use gsync with nvidea but you cannot use freesync with nvidea.For that you'll need amd card.Nvidea has officially given support to freesync but its still not much relevant.If you have nvidea card go for gsync(If your budget is high) but if you are on a budget i will suggest you to go for amd card with freesync monitor. As of recently, Freesync monitors actually DO work with Nvidia cards. So, if you haven't already bought that new monitor yet, you should probably be able to get the Freesync one for a lot cheaper. You should check to make sure the particular card you have is compatible with the monitor you're looking at, though.

Luke De G but why does he? The fps is lower, not higher than pc refresh rate
@artofgameplaying
@artofgameplaying 5 лет назад
If you are playing a game at lower FPS than your refresh rate, don't enable it, unless there is also a triple buffering option. Your fps may then be locked to some integer divisor of 60 - 30 being the closest to 60, so you can lose a lot of FPS by enabling it.

Correct, you will be pushing 60fps but no buffer to sync with your display > tearing. Try fast sync if you can get 120fps+ in chosen game. Less input lag and butter smooth.
