Much has been written about "achieving the impossible" ... the circumnavigation of the Earth without the use of fuel. Yet it has been achieved, only to a certain extent. But, not belittling the awards, the definitive circumnavigation has yet to be achieved. Stopping enroute for the comfort of the pilot (and recharging the batteries) suggests a continuation of the challenge. All that has been proven so far is the ability to fly for more than 24 hours using solar power. I understand that the gondola was designed to accommodate two pilots, therefore, what is the reason for delaying a non-stop attempt in, perhaps, ten days?

The answer is in another video. Shingles, weather and safety. The SRB for Solar had to review the patterns, there were significant delays for safety checks, but the worst delays were health I believe. Rotten luck for the pilot but still a beautiful endeavor no doubt.

I was hoping to find out more about Solar Impulse 2 aircraft - what kind of batteries it used, how powerful engines etc. Instead I heard 101% corporate drizzle...
