This video is from my performance workshop at the 2021 Gilmore KeysFest. The subject of the workshop is "What is Stage Charisma? How to Communicate with Your Audience." This video was filmed virtually with audience participation.
In the second part of this workshop, I spoke about "storytelling at the piano" and how you can build your convincing interpretation through character and plot building, channeling emotions and tensions, and creating imageries through an understanding of the piece you are playing. Ask yourself some questions:
What does the music make me feel?
What emotions does the music evoke in me?
Do I see any colors or images?
