It would be very helpful to find a Nationwide list of low income properties that show the buildings or areas with the shortest waiting list. I might be broke and dead if I had to wait 10 yrs for an opening. Or just forget about getting in one all together if the waiting list is too long.

I am sorry that I do not know of a Nationwide list. Here in New Jersey, I know some resource people who are familiar with the local buildings. But even they say that the waiting lists can be unpredictable.

Is the rent ever more than 30% of adjusted gross income? Or do they ever have 50% of Adjusted gross income? Do they have certain income bands?

Thank you for your important questions. Unfortunately I do not have the authoritative answers for different buildings in different regions. I think the best thing to do is to ask each building individually.

Apologies for the late reply. You would need to find out which buildings exist near your parent's residence. Then you would need to apply to each building individually. The buildings first accept people who live close to them. You can also ask around for advice and tips. There are people who charge a fee in order to help families with these applications.

I am sorry to say that I do not have much knowledge and experience to help with subsidized housing. I recommend that you contact your city government and ask about "Senior Services". I hope you find what you need.
