I'm doing an easy run this coming Sunday off HWY 2 near stevens pass. If interested, shoot me a message on instagram or Facebook, or even Gmail for the details
@@4WDTrek Heck yeah! It was a lot of fun to watch the new to town Navy guys being their shiny new trucks and instantly break them in that spot. I have LOTS of stories like that. I'm just north in Bellingham and have never been to Walker Valley but after watching your videos I'm going to have to get down there with my Xterra!
@@4WDTrek funny fact... i ran my stock 2004 tj rubicon on 245x75x16 near worn out bfg's AT up that and got to with in 10 feet of the top on the left line, before i started building it
That you do! It is an entirely different park. Not a single trail where you don't go through a puddle. Most of the puddles aren't super deep. But some of them man, oh dang. Gotta get a snorkel for my rig!
I'm new to wheeling in WA but not new to wheeling. What is the deal with all the closed gates? I was there yesterday. Is this a seasonal thing and they open in spring/summer?
The gates are there to prevent people coming out in vehicles that cannot handle the terrain. Keeps soccer mom vans and stuff out of the parks where they will get stuck. The gates open for maintenance crews and emergency personnel. So they are there for safety reasons.
@@blaskowitz860 Maybe find a smaller military vehicle? I'm sure that the vehicle can make it through a lot, however, it may cause damage to some trails being that wide. Thats mostly the issue that you would have.
Right now, just about anywhere in Tahuya you can get get muddy. You are a bit wider than the average vehicle out there but should still be able to make it through the park. There is a risk of pin stripes on some of the smaller trails because you are wider.
Another awesome video! Had an absolute blast going along with. For everyone else, I had the White Wrangler in the video, and also the Silver Cherokee Trailhawk at the beginning of the video! Cool! Love tahuya! Have been out there 4 times now!
Those remind me of most of the crap roads I have to drive on for work. But instead of having fun, I'm usually yelling, swearing, sweating, and praying.
Great video! I just got a 392 and want to check it out! I had two newbie questions. Since I don’t have a compressor can I do it without airing down? Also, for this trail is 4H auto find or should I used 4H part time, or 4L( 392 is diffferent so normal driving is supposed to be 4H auto).
You can do almost the entire park in a stock rig in 4h auto. 4lo will help you stay slow and controlled. I find it easier to be in 4lo in tight trails so I don't accidentally give it more gas and bounce off a tree. Haha You should be able to do everything without airing down. If you have more questions, hit me up through gmail, Facebook or Instagram. Easier to communicate that way
@@4WDTrek thanks for the reply! I also got the. Xtreme recon package! Do you let folks know when you’re going out? Would love to go with a group given I’m new. Love your videos too, thanks!
I would say most of the park should be doable with a full size. We had a full size k10 blazer out with us one day. His rig was a tad beaten up. Pretty sure from previous days though! I dont remember any spots being too precariously narrow though.
You'll make it through but you should expect to get some pinstripes. You can't wheel tahuya without feeling some branches. That's just something you have to accept. If you are willing to do that to your Raptor, please make a video and upload it. 🙂
Awesome video! We saw the first mud lake dry (during Crawling for a Cure), and we noticed it had really deep tracks right down the middle. Definitely avoid that without a snorkel. Also saw Phil faceplant Scrappy Doo right off the rocks in the second lake and drive away like nothing.
Yeah mud lake was super dry when we hosted that event. Such a huge difference than last weekend! Phil and his Scrappy-Doo just do everything like its easy!
Not just the middle, the part to really avoid is at the far back corner. As you enter, there are two lakes. The first lake can usually be safely traversed by any TJ with a 6" lift and 35" tires, or JK with 4" lift and 35" tires, even if you hit the deepest points. This doesn't account for unusually deep ruts, which could be present. Ya never know. :) The second lake you'll encounter, as you face it, there is a big pile of boulders to the left, and if you look to your right there looks like a narrow mudpuddle path you can take through a little slice of the second lake. This is deceiving. It looks like a safe way to putt through the lake and try it out but it's actually the deepest and most treacherous part. There are big roots at one end of it that can be a challenge to clear, and the water is MUCH deeper here. Don't go through there unless you are running something like 40's and at least a 6" lift, or a snorkel.
Hoping to start hitting up these parks this coming summer once I'm able to get the ZJ back in wheeling shape! Your videos aren't making the wait any easier lol
I’ve been wanting to go to tahuya. Does this place have a map? Anything a new person should know before going? Thanks again! I went up to Bethel ridge because of your help and video.
There are maps of it at both trail entrances. Definitely take a picture of them. Also, TrailsOffroad has the maps to tahuya and most other parks around. Definitely check out their webpage. Highly recommend
